  • Oxygen Optional, Champagne Essential - Lara's story of trekking Mera Peak in The Himalayas
    2025/06/30

Here on The Reinvention Project we're all about saying yes to things that both scare and excite us - and never letting go of that sense of adventure and curiosity about how new experiences can shape us. This week, Carly invites her bestie, Lara, onto the show to discuss her recent trek up Mera Peak in the Himalayas.

Lara shares how she was a hard yes when the opportunity presented itself, despite being fairly low on detail on what it would take to pull this off. It's a fun episode talking about courage, climbing, personal growth and friendship.

Carly and Lara talk tiny planes (and even tinier runways), altitude sickness and champagne celebrations, snow camping and donkeys... but most of all they talk about the importance of friendship and community and how having adventurous friends can help expand your vision of what's possible in life.

    Takeaways

    • A sense of adventure can take you to the most unexpected places!
    • Prepping for a trek like this is both physically & logistically challenging
    • It was a lot more dangerous than Lara imagined it would be.
    • The journey down the mountain can be more treacherous than the ascent.
    • Curiosity drives personal growth and new experiences.
    • It's important to have a support system when taking on challenges.
    • Reflecting on experiences can enhance their significance.
    • Adventure can inspire others, including our children.
