  • Life in the Fast Lane: Revved up for Change
    2025/03/30

Imagine this: You’re behind the wheel of your Mustang, helmet on, engine rumbling beneath you. Your heart is pounding as you pull onto the track for the first time. The first lap is nerve-wracking—your grip is tight, every turn feels like the edge of control. But then, something shifts. By the second lap, you start finding your rhythm. And by the third? You’re overtaking cars, confidence kicking in, fully in the flow.

This isn’t just about racing—it’s about life.

In this episode, Emma shares her experience of driving her Mustang on the track for the first time. We’ll unpack how stepping into fear, learning the right strategies, and trusting yourself can take you from hesitation to full-throttle success—whether on the track or in midlife.

The conversation delves into her lifelong passion for cars, the challenges she faced on the track, and the valuable life lessons learned through the process. • Pivot! Pivot!
    2025/03/17

In this episode of The Reinvention Project, we talk about those moments in life where we have no choice but to pivot. Even with best laid plans and a big vision of where we are headed, life has a way of getting all lifey on us. We talk about how to see the positives in the pivot, and the humour as well. We share some stories of the big pivot moments in our life, what we learnt from them and how they turned out (for the most part!) to be a good thing.

    Takeaways

    • Life is full of unpredictable moments and it's all about the pivot.
    • Flexibility and humour are so helpful in these moments.
    • Maybe it's not failure, it's just redirection
    • We often attach our identities to roles and labels, which can lead to feelings of loss when they change.
    • Chasing the next big thing can distract us from being present in the moment.
    • Pivoting is about responding to life's challenges with resilience and adaptability.
    • Personal stories of pivoting can inspire others to embrace their own changes.
    • Education and self-worth are interconnected; we should not overcompensate for perceived deficiencies.
    • Not every pursuit will align with our true selves; it's okay to let go of what doesn't serve us.

  • Cocktail of Life
    2025/02/16

Imagine your life is a cocktail. The perfect mix of base spirit, bitters, sweeteners and mixers... and you get to decide if it's shaken or stirred. Well, this week, that's exactly the analogy we're talking about... how we create the perfect cocktail of life... with all the right elements to build a good foundation and to balance out the overall experience. We also talk about how sometimes our tastes change as we go through the stages of life, and so we need to keep coming back to the mixology process to keep our cocktail fresh and enticing. Sometimes it's just a little tweak... or other times, we might need to start all over. We relate this analogy to our own lives to get you thinking about your own cocktail of life, and whether it needs some reinvention or freshening up!

    Takeaways

    • Reinvention is about knowing when to stir, shake, or start over.
    • Your base spirit is the core of you: your non-negotiables in life
    • Your bitters are those tough moments that shape your character
    • The sweeteners are the things that light you up and make you happy
    • The mixers are your work, community & social circles
    • Why it's so hard to let go of outdated ingredients that no longer serve you
    • Recognising when you're stuck in a rut and need to rethink
    • Life is too short to drink a bad cocktail or live a life that doesn't seem right.
    • Experimenting with your life mix is key to personal growth.

    2025/02/02

This is a big topic. It's a bit of a serious episode this one. We're talking weight loss and we're talking weight gain... and in the context of two very different things - building for Ironman and trying to make it through perimenopause. Emma talks about her weight loss journey and the shift in body image identity that came with losing 80kg, and then how hard that was to shake when she started building the athletic body that would take her through to Ironman and building a new body image identity to go with it. "Who dat in the mirror?"

And Carly talks about how your body changes during perimenopause and how this impacts your identity, as well as some tips on how to find your way through.

In this conversation, we delve into the complexities of weight management and we discuss the importance of adapting nutrition and exercise routines, especially in midlife, and emphasise the need for self-acceptance and emotional resilience.
