• Trauma Healing - Don’t Make This Mistake in Therapy
    2025/06/12

Have you ever felt like you had to “bring something important” to therapy or skipped a session because you didn’t know what to talk about? You’re not alone. As someone who’s sat on both sides of the therapy room, as a trauma therapist and as a client, I know how much pressure we can put on ourselves to do therapy right. But what if showing up exactly as you are is enough?Expectations we put on ourselves can be the most challenging aspect of healing from trauma. In this video, I talk about the pressure many clients feel to be prepared for therapy and the impact it can have.Healing isn’t about knowing what to say. It’s not about knowing what to work on . Most times, it’s just about being present and willing to be seen. If you’ve ever second-guessed yourself before a session, this one’s for you.I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments. Have you ever felt pressure to come to therapy with a plan or felt like you couldn’t show up because it was a difficult week, maybe reverted to some old coping mechanisms? Let’s talk about it. 💬

  • Debunking Harmful Myths About Child Abuse: The Truth About LGBTQ+ Scapegoating
    2025/06/06

We grow up with a variety of ideas about staying safe. Who we can and can’t be safe with. What not to do so we don’t end up in trouble or a bad situation. Some of it is helpful and important information. Unfortunately, much of it comes from fear based on lack of understanding and awareness. Sometimes we’re even taught to fear by making someone or something out to be dangerous… from seed oils to people who are trans. But what if the fear is misplaced? What if the real danger is closer to home than most people want to admit? In this video, I talk about the dangerous myths surrounding sexual abuse especially those that target the LGBTQ+ community and why this can lead to an even greater risk to our children. As a trauma therapist and survivor, I feel a deep responsibility to name what’s true and call out what’s harmful. We need to have hard, honest conversations because awareness is the beginning of real protection.Share your thoughts or your story in the comments,I’d love to hear from you.(I mentioned I was going to share a part of my story. I forgot to talk about it but it will be available on my blog tomorrow (Friday @‌5:30am MST). You can find it HERE.

  • Healing Childhood Trauma - Honoring Every Part of the Healing Journey
    2025/05/30

I recently asked my YouTube community to describe their healing journey in one word and what came back reminded me just how layered and nuanced the work of healing truly is.

We often expect… hope that healing should look linear, like we’re always supposed to be “better” than we were last week. But that’s not real life. That’s not real healing. The truth is, where you are today might not reflect where you were yesterday, and that’s okay. It’s not a step backward, it’s all part of your journey.

In this video, I talk about:

    • Why healing is full of emotional shifts and how that’s normal

    • How recognizing uncomfortable emotions is a sign of growth, not failure

    • The way daily life and external stressors can impact how you feel

    • How judgment-free self-reflection helps you move forward

    • The importance of meeting yourself with honesty and compassion

Take a breath, check in with yourself, and if you feel called, share your one word in the comments. I’d love to hear it.

With so much mental health content available online, it’s easy to feel like support is just a quick click or scroll away. But not all information lands the same and not all of it is helpful when you're working through something as layered as childhood trauma.

In this video, I talk about the subtle (sometimes unhelpful) messages that are sometimes sent, even when, on the surface, it seems positive. This video is about helping you feel more grounded in your own discernment.

Healing is personal. It’s okay to ask questions, to get curious, and to choose carefully who and what information we take in.Have you ever come across advice that made you pause or rethink something? I’d love to hear how you navigate this in your own life.

  • The Truth About Healing from Childhood Trauma: It’s Not Just About Doing the Work
    2025/05/09

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things to heal; journaling, affirmations, therapy, mindfulness but still feel stuck, you’re not alone.

Healing from childhood trauma isn’t just about doing the practices. It’s about how you do them.

Without intention and mindfulness, even the most helpful and motivating practices can lose their impact.

    In this video, I share:

    • Why common and, often important, healing practices don’t seem to work
    • How to bring presence and intention into your healing
    • Why mindful connection, in relationships and within yourself, is essential

If you’ve been feeling frustrated by your healing journey and wondering why it seems it’s not working, this conversation may offer the clarity you’ve been missing.

If any part of this resonated, I’d love to hear how you’ll practice becoming more intentional. Drop a comment and let’s keep the conversation going.

  • Healing Childhood Trauma: The Truth About Shame That Took Me Years to Understand
    2025/05/09

For a long time, I’ve talked about “healing shame”. But something about it never sat right with me. It felt… inaccurate.

In this video, I talk about:

    • Why “healing shame” doesn’t fully capture what actually happens

    • How one moment of shame can trigger all the old pieces we’ve held

    • Why we can’t compartmentalize our shame

    • What it means to truly “heal” shame and how that’s different from just managing it

Shame doesn’t have to be something we carry forever. And we don’t have to keep working on the same pieces over and over.

What are you thoughts? Let me know in the comments.

  • The Hidden Grief of Trauma Survivors: Disappointment, Longing, and Reckoning
    2025/04/24

There are some things we lose before we even know they’re missing.
When we grow up with trauma, in chaos, or without the love and safety we needed, we don’t just carry memories of what happened, we also carry grief for what never happened. There’s a quiet kind of heartbreak that lives inside the wishes we made as children. The ones we likely never said out loud.

In this video, I talk about the grief that comes not just from loss but from longing. From the ungranted wishes that still live inside our wounded parts. I explore how these unseen losses shape our beliefs about what we deserve, and how they influence the way we move through relationships, healing, and even joy.

If any part of you has ever felt that quiet ache for something you never received, I see you. And I hope this video helps you feel less alone. Let me know in the comments, what wish does your younger self still hold on to?
