  • re: The Pursuit of Purpose and How to Get There
    2025/01/22

In this episode, I take you back to where it all began by revisiting the very first question I had when I started Resume. Whether you're new to the podcast or a seasoned listener, this episode offers a heartfelt dive into the struggle of finding purpose and career happiness.

As we move into the middle of January, that infamous slump period, I revisit a question that gave me anxiety even as a kid: What do you want to be when you grow up? I share my personal journey of wanting to be everything from an actress to a veterinarian, only to find that the question grew more stressful over time.

Fast forward to college and the overwhelming pressure of choosing a major, I felt like I was never exceptional at anything. Graduating during the 2009 recession only added to the chaos.

I recount my first job experience and the lessons I learned from taking a job out of necessity rather than passion. I then share the pivotal moments that eventually led me to start recruiting remotely while pursuing acting classes. This journey illuminated my need for flexibility and creative outlets, ultimately leading me to discover my current purpose — career coaching and this podcast!

The journey was not linear, but it underscored the importance of staying open to new opportunities, embracing change, and continuously experimenting to find what truly lights you up from within. So, let's embrace the journey together and uncover our evolving purposes.

    Key Topics:

    1. The one question that only gets more stressful as you get older
    2. Choosing a job over necessity, not passion, and what it taught me
    3. Putting pressure on yourself to find your purpose could be holding you back from finding it
    4. The 3 crucial things failure taught me
    5. Falling in love with remote recruiting
    6. Following your instincts and pursuing your talents is vital in the pursuit of purpose
    7. The journey to purpose evolves with you
    8. 3 questions to ask yourself to help clarify your purpose
    9. Sometimes the most purposeful thing we can do is change our minds

  • [REVISIT]: Turn Excuses Into Reasons to Go After Your Goals in 2025
    2025/01/08

Happy New Year! We're gearing up for some hot topics on the podcast in 2025, so in the meantime, enjoy this revisit episode of a solo I recorded back in December 2023 when the podcast was only a few months old at the time!

    ---------------------------

If you had told me a lot of things at the start of 2023, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. Take this podcast, for example. If you had told me in January 2023 that I would have my own successful podcast where I get to interview tons of amazing professionals about their careers and how they got their start, I wouldn’t have believed you. And having a great work-life balance at the same time? Forget about it.

But here I am in December 2023, staring down 2024, realizing I’ve achieved all of that, and more. It’s crazy to think about what more I could achieve next year with the right mindset and attitude towards my goals.

So in this quick little recap solo episode, I’m sharing some simple mindset shifts that will help you set realistic and exciting goals so you can start setting yourself up to meet (and even exceed) your goals in the new year.

If you need a push to stop making excuses and find reasons to achieve your dreams instead, grab a pen and paper, and get ready to learn how.

    Key Topics:

    1. 360 year in review
    2. How to have work-life balance and achieve your dreams
    3. Get a coach. Seriously.
    4. If nothing could stop you, what would you achieve?
    5. Make a list of your excuses and reframe them
    6. Turning fears into NBDs (No Big Deals)

    2025/01/01

Today we have a unique and inspiring guest, Erica Weiderluht, the founder of We The Light. Erica didn’t exactly choose her work — it actually chose her. What started as dabbling in the spiritual and woo quickly transitioned into a full career, helping others find their confidence and create more joy in their lives to get to the root of what’s holding them back.

Erica's journey began in 2013, transitioning from spiritual coaching to focusing on sex, love, relationships, and pleasure (not just sexual). In this episode, Erica shares her deeply personal story of overcoming struggles with anxiety and self-doubt to empower others to embrace their worthiness, confidence, and pleasure.

Her background in acting has significantly influenced her current work, leading to a seamless blend of personal development that enhances both personal and professional life. We discuss her approach to corporate talks where she addresses how self-love and sexual empowerment can significantly impact professional performance and overall job satisfaction.

With her innovative methods, including workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions featuring traditional talk therapy, visualizations, meditations, and practical exercises, Erica provides tangible tools to integrate pleasure and self-care into our daily routines. Erica shares how individuals can make small yet significant changes in their daily tasks to incorporate more joy and relaxation, thus preventing the exhaustion that often comes with demanding professional roles. We also touch on the critical role of community and support systems in normalizing self-care practices, particularly in a work environment that may not always prioritize mental and emotional well-being.
