  • Overcoming burnout and post-traumatic stress with Wendy Power Stoten
    2021/07/29
In this episode, Tammy chats with Wendy Power Stoten about her work supporting frontline professionals experiencing burnout and post-traumatic stress. They discuss; what Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is and the science behind it, how she has been using it to help frontline professionals in health and emergency services overcome COVID-related burnout and post-traumatic stress, and her vision for providing EFT to more frontline professionals in the future. From the beginning of her career, Wendy has sought to help her clients get rid of the blocks that are stopping them from getting the most out of their lives. Because of her commitment to this mission, Wendy has become a practitioner of Emotional Freedom Technique - a fast, effective, and gentle technique that alleviates stress and anxiety (as well as other symptoms) by tapping on meridian points. After responding to the need for support by frontline professionals in the health and emergency services, Wendy and her team of EFT specialists realised that more work needed to be done - and that’s why she created FAST. Built on values similar to our own, FAST are using their expertise to provide EFT that is tailored to their clients and are values-led. It has been a great privilege to have Wendy as a guest on our podcast.   Wendy has more than 35 years’ experience as a Language/Business/Life Skills trainer and Energy Psychology practitioner. Having graduated with BA Honours in Social and Cultural history from UEA in the 80’s, she began a career in corporate training which took her to Japan, South America, Asia and several European countries to live and work. On marrying, moving to Cornwall in 2000, and soon after having a son, she began to pursue her interest in the rapidly developing world of Neuroscience and Epigenetics, to which EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and its extension Matrix-Reimprinting so perfectly lend themselves. She is trained to advance level EFT and MR, specialising in client trauma.  Wendy set up FAST in April 2020 in response to the Covid-19 mental health crisis, after being inundated herself with requests for help from overwhelmed healthcare and emergency workers. FAST grew quickly to 30 experienced EFT practitioners, providing fast, effective, free of charge online sessions to those accessing their support nationwide. With increasing signs of PTSD/R among clients, FAST is needed more than ever, and Wendy is passionate that FAST meets this growing demand as efficiently as possible. • Finding Freedom with Patricia Wagner
    2021/07/14

(TW: this episode contains discussion of rape, sexual assault and domestic abuse)

In this episode, Tammy chats with Patricia Wagner about her process of finding freedom after her tumultuous adolescence. They discuss the traumatic experiences of Patricia’s younger years that led her to a life of drug consumption and domestic abuse, the people that supported and motivated her to change her life around, and how both of their pasts have led Tammy and Patricia to a shared mission of positively impacting the lives of others.

Patricia is a successful woman, living a beautiful life that she loves, but it wasn’t always that way. Adopted at the age of 10, she was separated from her parents and moved to France, where she was forbidden from telling anyone at school or elsewhere about her real parents. It was a tough reality for a 10-year-old, and the pressure of living with this secret led her to start running away from home from the age of 14-15 and becoming involved with gang members in the neighbourhood. What followed next was a chapter filled with sexual abuse, drug consumption and domestic abuse. But Patricia didn’t let her past define her, and with the help of people supporting and rooting for her, has become the successful woman that she is today.

Patricia is a recognised success coach for Elites and Experts, as well as a TV producer, professional singer, actress and the Founder of C-Success Academy. She is on a mission to help people from all backgrounds redefine themselves and their brand by giving them the strategies, secrets, and tools for success so they can create the big impact they desire in the world.

Despite living many years of instability and abuse, Patricia fought for her freedom and throughout this episode she reminds us that:

“Your broken past does not have to be your future”

  • 'Heart shaped decisions change lives' with Graham Frost
    2021/07/01
In this episode, Tammy chats with Graham Frost about the power of making ‘heart-shaped decisions’. They discuss Graham’s turbulent teenage years and how they have shaped who he’s become, why more people should follow their feelings before their thoughts, and the gratitude he has for the professionals within the Probation Service and National Health Service that changed his life. After leaving his church and family home at the age of 17, Graham was left to fend for himself with no guidance or support. Two years, and a few bad decisions later, Graham found himself in a borstal. It was here that he was given a choice by one of the officers, to keep his “nose clean” or continue on a path towards criminality. It was that proposition, alongside the support of many frontline professionals who believed in him, that led Graham to make the ‘heart-shaped decision’ to turn his life around.Since then, Graham has been following his feelings rather than his thoughts in whatever decisions he makes. Like Graham, Tammy also left home in her teenage years. Having had to fend for herself since the age of 15, Tammy experienced a turbulent adolescence. But having both experienced an immense amount of adversity at such young ages, Graham and Tammy both recognise the importance of frontline professionals in changing their life trajectories.Graham Frost is a professional speaker who delivers inspiring talks, mainly to young people about Heart-Shaped Decisions. Graham grew up in a very strict church, and escaped when he was 17. That meant leaving his family and support network behind. By the age of 19, he was in prison for theft. While there he was helped to make the Heart-Shaped Decision to give up his life of petty crime. Then in his early 20s, Graham was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He fought it, and won, with the help and support of the NHS.A few years ago, Graham was asked to give a talk about his story to a group of young people. Afterwards some of the audience approached him and told him that he was inspiring. That was when Graham knew that he had to share his story, to help young people make the right decisions for them early in their lives. Graham speaks to groups of young people in schools, colleges, and universities, including alternative provision and young offenders. In this series 5 of the Training 4 Influence podcast, we’re talking to guests who’ve had their lives changed by professionals who have gone above and beyond to ensure that they were listened to and that their needs were met. • Delivering training is a privilege with Jo Lovell
    2021/05/25

In this episode, Tammy chats with Jo Lovell about what a privilege it is to deliver training and how it can change lives. They discuss how Jo’s own personal story shaped the way she delivers training, her approach to delivering training using her own lived experiences and the importance of continuous learning as an expert facilitator.

Right from her earliest memories, Jo was always the one who could be encouraged to shout about any injustice, which led her into a career working with young people who experienced challenges themselves and challenged those around them.

It was while working with young people who had and were experiencing safeguarding nightmares, that she was going home to her own. Despite her relationship giving her an amazing son, it left her with her soul and passion for life suffocated. However, she managed to escape once she realised her worth and built her life and soul and parenting skills back up and got her happily ever after. Jo’s new life began at 40!

As a result of this lived experience and her teaching experience, Jo is passionate about giving a 'voice to the voiceless' in the area of domestic abuse and working from a recovery, trauma-informed framework. She facilitates mental health courses with the Recovery College and facilitates courses for an organisation called Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse. She is currently facilitating a new domestic abuse recovery programme designed by Natalie Collins called Own My Life, where she is seeing amazing results from female victims moving into being survivors.

“I like to believe I can change the world one starfish at a time and if I can do a bucket load in one go, even better!” Jo Lovell
