  • #151 - Why I Don’t Believe That Everyone Has What It Takes To Grow A Thriving Coaching Practice
    2025/03/24

Welcome back to the Heads Together podcast! Today’s episode might ruffle a few feathers, but it’s a conversation that needs to be had. The truth is, not everyone has what it takes to grow a thriving coaching practice. It’s not about coaching being too hard or the industry not being viable, it’s about whether you have the right skills, mindset, and resilience to make it work.

Some coaches simply aren’t good enough at coaching. Without delivering real results, no amount of marketing will (or should) build a sustainable business. I see some coaches expecting it to be easy, posting a few times on social media and waiting for clients to roll in. But success takes strategy, learning how to sell, and most importantly, grit. If you give up at the first sign of struggle, this path may not be for you.

Building a coaching business requires handling uncertainty, being open to learning, and committing fully. Those who keep one foot in and one foot out will never build something truly successful. So ask yourself, are you willing to go all in? Because if you are, you do have what it takes, and we can help you:

When done right, this process not only keeps clients engaged but turns them into your biggest advocates.

  • #149 - 2025 Marketing For Coaches: What Actually Works?
    2025/03/10

There was a time when you could post a few pretty graphics, throw up some motivational quotes, and somehow, coaching clients would find their way to your DMs. But those days? They’re over.

In this episode of Heads Together, I’m calling out the outdated marketing strategies that simply aren’t working anymore and sharing exactly what does work to attract high-ticket coaching clients in 2025. It’s not about chasing the algorithm or trying to “hack” your way to success, it’s about showing up as the expert you are, building real relationships, and creating a business that isn’t at the mercy of social media trends.

  • #147 - Coaching vs. Running a Coaching Business: Are You Stuck in Hobby Mode?
    2025/02/24

Welcome back to the Heads Together podcast! This week I’m asking a tough question: Are you actually running a coaching business, or are you just coaching? Because there’s a big difference. If you’re treating your coaching like a side project rather than a real business, you’re likely stuck in hobby mode and that’s keeping you from the success you really want.

It’s one thing to love coaching, but that alone doesn’t make it a business. If you’re waiting for clients to magically appear, endlessly tweaking your website, or posting motivational quotes hoping someone will reach out, you’re not building a sustainable business, you’re playing at one. A real business needs structure, strategy, and a commitment to growth.

In this episode, I break down some of the biggest signs that you might be stuck in hobby mode and what it takes to shift into real business ownership. If you’ve ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels, staying busy but not making real progress, this one is for you. I’m getting honest about what actually moves the needle and how you can step into the role of CEO in your coaching business.

So, are you ready to make the shift? Listen in, and let’s get to work. And if this episode resonates, DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn and tell me what changes you’re making today. If you’re serious about taking your coaching business to the next level, check out my free masterclass, Unearth Your Edge, happening March 11-13. You won’t want to miss it!

  • #146 - Let The Money Be A Side Effect
    2025/02/17

If you’ve ever found yourself obsessing over where the next client is coming from or feeling that gut-wrenching panic when someone says no, this episode of the Heads Together Podcast is for you. I am talking about the biggest mindset shift that makes signing clients easier: stop chasing money and start focusing on connection, trust, and service. When you do, the money becomes a natural side effect.

This isn’t about sitting back and hoping for the best. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and playing the long game. When you stop leading with desperation and start building real relationships, everything, clients, sales, opportunities, flows so much more naturally. And let’s be honest, your business feels a whole lot better when you’re not constantly stress chasing.

Don’t miss my free three day masterclass, Unearth Your Edge, where we’ll refine your niche and messaging so the right people come to you. Register now at www.gillmoakes.com/unearth
