  • 3 Baby Sleep Quick Win Areas That Make it all Feel Easier (No Extra Effort Required!)
    2025/02/24

Welcome to the 51st episode of Thriving Parenting. I’m truly grateful to be part of your journey and to share the parenting wisdom I’ve gathered over nearly 13 years. In today’s episode, I’m diving into three quick win areas that can dramatically improve your baby’s sleep with minimal extra effort. These areas are:

    1. Sleep Environment

I’ve found that setting up the right sleep environment is an absolute game changer. I chat about how darkening your baby’s room—even just about 80% during day sleeps—can help them transition through their sleep cycles more easily.

    2. Sleep Pressure

The natural biological drive that tells our little ones it’s time to sleep. I share insights from my free sleep cheat guide, which gives average awake times as a guide to help avoid having either overtired or under-tired babies.

    3. Hunger

It might sound simple, but ensuring your baby is well fed is a crucial part of the sleep equation. I discuss how distracted feeding can lead to reduced calorie intake during the day, which might then lead to more frequent wake-ups at night.

I also share some very personal moments from my parenting journey. From recording my son’s transitioning voice to delicately helping my daughter let go of her treasured teddies, I reveal the bittersweet realities of watching our children grow. It’s a reminder that even on the tough days, every little win adds up, and we’re all just doing our best to thrive as a family.

“Children do not experience our intentions, no matter how heartfelt. Instead, they experience our tone, behaviour, and actions.”

A less stressed parent is truly the best parent, and by making these small changes, we can all feel a bit more at ease.

  • Every Cry Makes You Question If You’re Doing It Wrong? Let’s Rewrite That Story Together
    2025/02/17

Welcome to the 50th episode of Thriving Parenting! First off, a huge thank you for being part of this journey. Releasing this podcast was once a fear, but now, it’s something I look forward to every week—connecting, supporting, and helping you embrace a thriving life in parenting.

To celebrate this milestone, I have a FREE masterclass for you! It’s all about understanding and responding to your baby’s cries, helping you become their emotional coach during sleep changes. Visit my new website, https://sleepthrivegrow.com.

Crying. It’s something all parents struggle with, and yet, society has conditioned us to fear it. We’re told a “good” baby is a quiet baby, and when our little one cries, we start questioning everything: Am I doing it wrong? Am I breaking trust? Should I stop this immediately?

But what if we rewrote this story? Instead of seeing crying as a problem, what if we recognized it as a form of communication—not something to fix, but something to support?

    Today, we’re unpacking:

    • Why society has trained us to fear crying
    • How crying is essential for emotional development
    • The shift from “stop the crying” to “support the feeling”
    • Why embracing emotions at bedtime can actually make sleep easier
    • How to attune to your baby’s needs without feeling overwhelmed

When we learn to hold space for our baby’s emotions without panic, everything changes. Parenting becomes less about “fixing” and more about guiding, supporting, and responding with confidence.

  • Is Your Baby Intense, Sensitive, Easy or Adaptable? Understanding Temperament & What It Means for You
    2025/02/04

Welcome back, Thrivers! Today, we’re diving into one of the most powerful tools in parenting—understanding temperament. Temperament is the foundation of who we are, shaping how our children experience and react to the world. And the more we understand it, the better we can support them in ways that truly meet their needs.

In this episode, I break down the nine temperament traits identified by researchers Thomas and Chess, including adaptability, persistence, sensitivity, and intensity of reaction. I’ll also share real-life stories from clients and my own parenting journey to illustrate how temperament influences everything from transitions to sleep.

Plus, we’ll explore how your own temperament as a parent affects the way you interact with your child—because parenting is a two-way street! Whether you’re raising an easygoing dandelion, a sensitive orchid, or a slow-to-warm tulip, this episode will help you navigate the unique needs of your child without limiting their potential.

    I talked about:

    • What is temperament and why does it matter?
    • The 9 key temperament traits and how they show up in daily life
    • How to work with your child’s temperament instead of against it
    • Why understanding your own temperament is just as important
    • Practical strategies to nurture your child’s growth without boxing them in

Tune in, take notes, and get curious about your child’s temperament. Share your reflections with me—I’d love to hear your thoughts!

    2025/01/27

Hello, Thrivers! In today’s episode of Thriving Parenting, I’m diving into a powerful reminder: you can do hard things. As parents, we often hesitate when facing challenges, but just like learning to drive, every difficult moment is an opportunity to grow.

I revisit a key topic from episode 41—giving ourselves permission to struggle—and explore new insights on resilience, self-trust, and the science behind doing hard things. I share two inspiring client stories, real-life examples of parents navigating sleep struggles with their babies, and how small, intentional steps made a big difference.

    We talk about:

    • The role of neuroplasticity in parenting challenges
    • How small, manageable steps lead to lasting change
    • The importance of self-compassion and mindset shifts
    • Breathing techniques to regulate emotions in tough moments
    • Why perfection isn’t the goal—connection, growth, and trust are

  • Is my baby really scared of the cot?! Understanding Your Child’s Fears: The Power of Perspective vs Perception
    2025/01/20

Have you ever wondered why your child seems fearful of things you know are perfectly safe or why they resist certain situations that feel normal to you?

In today’s episode, we dive deep into the fascinating difference between perspective and perception.

I promise, this episode is going to be incredibly enlightening and powerful for your parenting journey. While I’m no psychologist, I’ll be breaking this down in the simplest way possible—because that’s how I learn too! As a mind-body practitioner, I geek out over psychology and love understanding how our brains work. But don’t worry, you don’t need a degree to follow along—just an open mind and a willingness to see things from your child’s perspective.

What You'll Learn in This Episode:

    • The fundamental difference between perspective (how adults see the world) and perception (how children experience it).
    • Why young children rely solely on their senses and emotions to interpret the world.
    • How experiences shape their perceptions of safety and trust.
    • Why some children struggle with sleep in a cot and how we can gently shift their perception of safety.
    • How your own perceptions of sleep and independence influence your child’s experience.
    • The role of consistency, regulation, and positive messaging in helping your child feel safe and secure.

"Children see magic because they look for it. Adults see magic because they’ve learned where it’s hidden."

We have the privilege of showing our children where safety, comfort, and trust are hidden. It’s in our words, our calm presence, and the consistency of our love that we help shape their world.

If you loved this episode, please leave a review or reach out—I’d love to hear from you! And if you need personalized support, I’m here to help. Until next time, Thrivers!

  • How to Make Work and Motherhood Work with Loz and Lu of Ready or Not
    2025/01/13

In this episode of Thriving Parenting, I sit down with Loz and Lu from the Ready or Not podcast, and it’s an absolute must-listen for every working mum out there! Loz and Lu are two powerhouse women who have figured out how to make work and motherhood work—well, most of the time—and they’re here to share their real, raw, and relatable stories with us.

We kick off the conversation by chatting about how Loz and Lu first met, their friendship, and how the Ready or Not podcast came to life. Spoiler alert: it all started with long walks and voice memos during the pandemic. What I love about their story is how they turned their everyday motherhood struggles and insights into a platform that resonates with so many women.

In this episode, we dive deep into:

    • How Loz and Lu balanced starting a podcast with pregnancies, babies, and big career shifts.
    • The emotional and logistical challenges of returning to work after having kids.
    • The reality of juggling sick days, daycare drop-offs, and meetings.
    • How the Ready or Not podcast evolved with spin-offs like Witching Hour and Ask Ready or Not.

Loz shares her morning hacks (hello, robe-over-work-clothes trick!) and Lu opens up about redefining thriving as a working mum. We also cover the pressures of being “on” 24/7 and the importance of setting boundaries—both at work and at home.

One of my favourite parts of our chat? We talked about the simple joys that kids remember most, like drawing rainbows together, and how those small moments can mean more than grand adventures.

Loz’s parting advice is golden: “If you don’t change it, you choose it.” Whether it’s tweaking your morning routine or setting clearer work boundaries, small changes can make a big impact.

If you're a mum navigating work, life, and everything in between, you’ll feel seen and heard in this episode. We also highlight helpful resources like Loz and Lu’s guides on returning to work, navigating childcare, and balancing breastfeeding with a career.

Let me know your biggest takeaway from this episode—what resonated with you most? And don’t forget to check out Loz and Lu’s podcast Ready or Not for even more honest, supportive conversations about work and motherhood.
