The conversation between Fr. Ian Elliot Davies and Kyle Leon Henderson continues. This time, they scratch the surface a little more about what their distinct perspectives on Christianity happens to be, as guided by the Episcopal theology that they practice.
To start, the hosts suss out what theology is. They give it a textbook definition, but then they ascribe a more worldly understanding of what theology means. They then move to the historical roots and lay out the evolution of the American Episcopal Church.
In the Episcopal Church, and especially in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, theology revolves around the Rites. Fr. Davies helps Kyle, and the listeners, understand what a Rite is and the history of the Rites of the Church. Then the episode moves to the etymology and the meaning of the word "liturgy."
And finally Fr. Davies and Kyle discuss what it means to be Anglo-Catholic and what it means to be in the Anglican Communion.
In this episode, the listener will gain a greater understanding of what the Episcopal Church is striving to be for the world. And if they are lucky, they will finish this episode with even more questions that will be answered in the listening of this series.
