  • You Don't Have To Be Good At Your Hobbies
    2022/12/19

Sarah Smyth hops on this week. We cover a lot of ground during this episode. We start with Sar’s experience moving to Colorado, learning to ski, tearing her ACL and what that recovery looked like. The conversation jumps from a season ending injury, to owning a business, to finding a therapist and everything in between.

  • Social Media Matters
    2022/10/31

Social media is a slippery slope. It has connected me with people, ideas, recipes, and so much more. It has also disconnected me from the present, and at times, from myself. My goal is to live a life where the intention behind what I am sharing feels true and within alignment of my life. Be aware of how you consume social media, it matters.

  • Post-Orcas Race
    2022/10/03

    Part 2 - Post-Odyssey Orcas Swimrun race.

On this week's episode, I share the thoughts and feelings that floated through my mind while swimming and running and swimming and running and my feelings post race. I learned a lot about myself and realized how my thought patterns add or takeaway from my lived experience. In the grand scheme of things, this race is really only a small part of my life, but it had a profound impact on me.

  • Pre-Orcas Race
    2022/09/26

Training for an event can drastically shift your schedule. It may dictate what you eat, your sleeping patters, social habits, and daily priorities. For me, I have found that training towards a goal helps me set a schedule and reminds me of my "why". I feel like there is intention behind the daily choices I make. The hardest part for me is not the training and build up before the race, but rather the calm that takes place after. I struggle to figure out what to do with all my new found time.

On September 18th, a group of 27 of us went to Orcas Island, WA to compete in a swimrun. This race consisted of 22 miles of trail running and 3 miles of swimming, broken up into 12 different legs. I wanted to record my thoughts prior to this adventure, and listen back after, to see how they hold up to the experience I had.

Now that the race is over, the post race blues have hit. Although it is nice having a bit more time, I miss the consistency in my schedule. I miss the commitment to one goal.

Hope yall enjoy listening, and stay tuned for the Post Orcas Race Recap, next week.

  • Change is the Only Constant in Life
    2022/09/12

Change is a natural part of life. Schedule changes, whether it is by choice or not, can shift one's priorities. As priorities shift, identities may feel up in the air. When the seasons of life change, what are the constants you can hold on to? What are the things you choose to leave behind?

  • When People Challenge Who You Think You Are
    2022/09/05

Who are you when how you define yourself, is challenged? I was nervous to share this episode. I often hesitate from talking about day to day moments that challenge me, mainly because I am still working through those things myself. While recording, I found myself going back and re-telling the story. I wanted to try and articulate this experience as best as I could and share the feelings I had in the moment, in the hopes that someone else can connect with something I am saying. Throughout this episode, I was reminded of how grateful I am for the people in my life and the impact that they continue to make on me. When you find good people, who make you feel more like yourself, hold them close. And when you start to feel less like yourself, fall back onto the things you know bring you home.

  • The Words You Speak Become the House You Live In
    2022/08/21

Well I am back, kinda I guess? This episode is the first of many for the House You Live In Series. On this episode I explain where the heck i've been, my commitment to consistency, and how the words we speak to ourselves impact our day to day views. I wanted to separate this series from What The Hell Do I Do Now because I think loss of identity does not just affect athletes. This is a shared human experience. So come come, on the kick drum (if you know this reference I love you, if you don't...GET IT TOGETHER), and lets chat about what life looks like when the things you define yourself by start to shift.
