  • Life as Game Designer and Programmer With David Fox

    My guest is David Fox, one of the founding members, first game designer, and project leader at Lucas film Games / Lucas Arts in 1982. David worked in designing and scripting many of the graphic adventures of the 1980s. From 2007-2011, he worked with Disney as an Interactive consultant. He is currently Lead Programmer for the game, Return To Monkey Island, and adapting "Rube Works: The Official Rube Goldberg Invention Game" to XR.

    For those of you who are not game programers, XR stands for Extended Reality, a technology that is combination of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR). David’s specialties are Producer and Game designer, iOS and Android app development with Unity 3D and Corona, iBook creation, Location Based Entertainment design, and Virtual Reality and Location Based VR.

    He says the overall theme in everything he does is “Finding ways to use technology to enrich people's lives, and using humor and entertainment to empower change.”

    When I reached out to David, I explained that I like to encourage and inspire people to do the thing they’d like to do.   • Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy With Amy Widestrom, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters

    My guest today is Amy Widestrom, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters in Pennsylvania. She is a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science, was previously a Chair at Arcadia University for the Department of Historical and Political Studies, and an assistant professor at California State University.

    Don’t be mislead by the title “League of Women Voters.” Men have been members since 1974 and membership is open to all persons who are at least 16 years of age. It is a nonpartisan organization, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties, and one of America’s most trusted grassroots organizations.

    Dr. Widestrom and I discuss how our voting systems work, a few of the problems with current voting systems, and solutions for what we can do to make it easier for Americans to vote and ensure your vote counts.

    My guest today is Kelly MacLean. Kelly is the president and founder of The Kelly Mac Lean Achievement Center, helping teens put their best foot forward while stepping into the college and career of their dreams.

    Kelly formed her company after repeatedly witnessing high school students making mistakes in their search for the best college to attend, mistakes resulted in students missing scholarships, not being accepted at the school of their choice, and switching schools or majors. She realized how overwhelming the process can be, and how costly mistakes are.

    She felt there had to be a better way to help students find their path. Her company provides resources specific to each student. The goal is to reduce college expenses while finding the best college. This is done through strategic preparation that includes selecting a major, career planning, college selection, preparing for tests, scholarships, applications and more.

    Kelly is a certified trainer for John Maxwell Leadership programs, an ACT test prep provider, a featured expert contributor for Stack Magazine, and a member of the Ohio Association of College Admission Counselors.

    Her company continues to work with the students through their freshman year in college to ensure their success in college.

  • How MDMA Healed My Childhood Trauma-Induced PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) With Jill Sitnick

    My guest today is Jill Sitnick, author of Rescuing Jill: How MDMA, with a Dash of Mushrooms, Healed My Childhood Trauma-Induced PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). In her book, Jill describes how MDMA let her view her father’s beatings and her mother’s suicide attempts during medically supervised sessions, and how through what is called psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, these treatments healed her trauma and transformed her life. She explains how this therapy works and dispels mythical stigmas associated with using psychedelics in the care of a professional for therapy.

    She has a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Instructional Technology. She wrote a workbook to accompany her memoir which includes instructions on how to create and use personal intentions during a treatment session. She also has YouTube channel that explains what psychedelic-assisted therapy is and how it can help those suffering with PTSD .

    My guest today is Dr. Christian Yeasted. Dr. Christian Yeasted is Chair of Ethics at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. After seven years of researching the ethics of artificial intelligence, He wrote a science fiction novel titled, “The Final Invention”

    Did you know - in addition to medical ethics, there is a type of ethics called Bioethics. According to John Hopkin’s Institute, new medicines, biomedical procedures, and ways of altering plants and animals are bringing benefits to millions of people. However, these same innovations have the potential to bring harms and raise ethical questions about their appropriate use.

    The characters in this story experience strange malfunctions of technology that were previously thought to be safe. The result is destruction and chaos. At a construction site something goes wrong with the AI foreman, killing human workers. The characters must discover the source of the malfunctions before they turn more deadly.

    Dr Yeasted maintains a clinical practice where he instructs medical students and residents in primary care.
