    Dr. Jenell Coleman is an Associate Professor in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, with a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine. A recognized expert in adolescent and young adult gynecology, her clinical focus includes managing menstruation disorders, HPV-related conditions (such as abnormal pap tests, colposcopy, laser treatments for warts, LEEPs, vulvar skin conditions), and complex vaginitis.

    Margaret Greerreceived her bachelor's in Gender and Health, with minors in Science, Technology, and Society, as well as Anthropology at University of Michigan. She then completed her Masters in Health Science, which focused on the Social Factors of Health, and an epidemiology certificate at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Margaret joined the Violet Project in November, 2023, and now runs the daily operations of the project - from running the social media to writing grants and coordinating partnerships. She is passionate about sexual and reproductive health and its intersections with health equity, and is excited to be working with the Violet Project to achieve its goals and support the youth in the Baltimore and greater Maryland area!

  • Ovarian Cancer Prevention with Dr. Becky Stone

    Call from Friday May 16th, 2025 featuring Dr. Rebecca "Becky" Stone.

    Dr. Rebecca Stone is an associate professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her area of clinical expertise is gynecologic cancers, including cervical, uterine, vulvar and ovarian cancer, as well as gestational trophoblastic disease. Dr. Stone is a highly skilled surgeon with expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgery for gynecologic tumors. She also serves as director of the Gynecology Enhanced Recovery after Surgery initiative, an innovative, multidisciplinary program that improves recovery and healing time after major abdominal surgery, as well as minimizes health care costs for patients.

    Dr. Gabram-Mendola is an expert in the surgical treatment of breast cancer and management of patients at high risk for breast cancer. She has also engaged in significant efforts to improve community awareness of the earlier detection of breast cancer in underserved minority women, to meet the rehabilitation needs of breast cancer patients, and to conduct analyses on the impact of various quality metrics and algorithms on patient care at Grady Memorial Hospital.

    David Bryce Yaden, PhD is an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine working in The Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research. His research focus is on the psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and psychopharmacology of spiritual, self-transcendent, and positively transformative experiences triggered with psychedelic substances and through other means. Specifically, he is interested in understanding how these experiences can result in long-term changes to well-being and how they temporarily alter fundamental faculties of consciousness such as the sense of time, space, and self.

He is a member of the Obstructive Lung Disease Group at Johns Hopkins, oversees the Tobacco Treatment Clinic and provides teaching to medical students and residents at Johns Hopkins.

    Dr. Joann Bodurtha is a professor of genetic medicine, pediatrics, and oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Bodurtha is co-director of the regional genetics network NYMAC, co-director of the Biological Mechanisms theme in the Genes to Society Curriculum, co-director of the BIRCWH Advisory Board, Physician Advisor for the Dept. of Genetic Medicine, a member of the Advisory Committee of the JH-NHGRI Genetic Counseling program, and a member of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Institutional Review Board. She has appointments in the School of Public Health and School of Nursing. Her research focuses on risk communication and interdisciplinary genetic education.

  • Psilocybin - An Introduction with Dr. Albert Garcia-Romeu

    Albert Garcia-Romeu, Ph.D. is a member of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Guest Researcher at the National Institute on Drug Abuse Intramural Neuroimaging Research Branch, where he studies the effects of psychedelic drugs in humans, with a focus on psilocybin as an aid in the treatment of addiction. He received his doctorate in 2012 from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, where he researched self-transcendence and meditation, and their role in mental health. His current research interests include clinical applications of psychedelics, mindfulness, and altered states of consciousness, and their underlying neurobiological and psychological mechanisms. As a faculty member of the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) he is involved in examining the effects of diverse drugs, and applying qualitative and mixed methods to understanding drug effects, risks, abuse liability, and therapeutic potential.
