Stick Lounge Podcast Welcomes Second Love Coffee Roasters! We dive into the world of coffee and coffee roasting with owners Phillip and Scott! Philip has worked in specialty coffee for over 10 years. Originally wanting to teach, he took café jobs on the side while going to school. The more he learned about specialty coffee and the community around it, the more he fell in love. Philip worked as a roaster and coffee trainer in southern California and always envisioned opening his own roastery; doing what he loved while giving back to the community. He moved to Des Moines, WA with his wife, Danielle, and began his journey of starting a roastery. Scott has worked for over a decade in the retail and grocery business advancing his way up from Clerk to Director Managing various locations across Los Angeles and San Francisco where he received his degree in Business Management. He previously worked in commercial Real Estate and manages a small residential LLC portfolio. Prior to Second Love, Scott worked in E-Commerce as Supply Chain Leader for over 8 years. Scott supports Second Love as a Co-Founder and Business Director for back-of-house operations. Make sure to stop in and get a cup on their opening date, July 12th! Steve has been a Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau appointee since 2019, with topics including the Prohibition in Northwest, and 1947’s “Summer of the Saucers” and the origin of the iconic Men in Black. He has keynoted for the Pacific Northwest History Conference, Washington State Historical Museum, McMenamins History Pubs, film festivals, conferences, and business groups.

Close to home, Steve is the co-founder of the 4-year-old Men in Black Birthday Bash + Festival (“MIBBB Fest”), a public spin-off of his infamous 13-year-old private annual party in Des Moines, Washington, known as “Burning Saucer.”

Steve was also co-founder and president of Front Porch Classics, the creator of classic “coffee table games” including Family Fun Toy of the Year winner Dread Pirate, and other multi-award winning games including Raceway 57, Stretch Run, Master & Commander. Steve managed the Company's IP portfolio including Sony's Game Show Television Network, Major League Baseball and 20th Century Fox.
