Hey Weed Whackers! Welcome back to another Pop Culture Archives episode of She's in the Weeds where we dive into some of our favorite movies, people, crazes, and pop culture moments of yesteryear. Today's episode is all about the Clinton Lewinsky affair and how Monica Lewinsky became our generation's most notorious scandal figure. First, Hollis gives us a recap of Monica's new podcast Reclaiming which gave her the idea for the episode and then the girls are diving right into what they remember from 1998. Next they're making some revelations about things they either didn't remember or perhaps never even knew when it was happening in real time. Sam was 12 and Hollis was 10 in 1998 so it was time to rewind and reexamine everything with adult eyes and ears. The sheer magnitude of the scandal and it's far reaching implications are still hard to believe even 27 years later and Monica's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. The girls discuss how the media portrayed her and some theories on how certain narratives came to be. They'll be getting in the weeds with details from media clips, interviews, documentaries, podcasts, and of course their own opinions on it all. They'll be examining her perspective of the story and how some of the narratives surrounding it have shifted in a post me too culture. Finally they'll be sharing some other allegations surrounding Bill Clinton and thoughts on how a scandal like this would play out in today's society and media. Meet you in the weeds!

Hello Weed Whackers! Whackadoodles!? Double Dubs!? Just spitballing here. Welcome back to another episode of She's in the Weeds! The ladies are kicking off the episode with a recap of the No Kings protest they attended and how good it felt to fulfill their civic duty. They may not have solved all the world's problems but it felt amazing to assemble with like minded people and they encourage you to get out there and make your voice heard. Next up Sam's really struggling with the children's bedtime shenanigans and Hollis needs to figure out how to make small talk with other dog parents. It's tough out there! Next the girls have some thoughts on Paige Desorbo's new sleepwear? line, Daphne. They can't quite figure out what it is, who it's for, or quite frankly who can afford it. Talk of fashion sparks a conversation about size inclusivity and the lack of consideration for all body types. When are designers going to get with the program? Then it's on to some circle backs on the ongoing Blake and Justin drama and the almost forgotten segment for Pop Culture Queen of the month. Spolier alert, it's Rosie O'Donnell. Rosie's really having a moment and it leads Sam and Hollis into a much needed conversation about And Just Like That. What is happening here? At this point they're watching for Carrie's outfits and to feel less alone. (Be sure to listen so you can be on the inside of that joke.) After a sufficient yap session the girls are getting in the weeds about Hollis's dating escapades, unhinged Hinge behavior, and some of the distinct differences between the way men communicate to women online and vice versa. As always they wrap up the episode with gripes about daily life and water consumption and grapes to summer confections and nostalgia. Thanks for being here! Love ya!

Hey Weed Whackers!? What do we think, do we like it? It could be fun! We'll workshop it but for now let us know what you think. Today is the day! Welcome to the first official episode of She's in the Weeds! The ladies are kicking off the episode with an introduction of the new name and some back story on the old one, why they changed it, and what listeners can expect as they continue to roll out the podcast face lift. Then they're yapping about vehicle maintenance, leather couches, and Sam makes a surprising revelation about a childhood favorite movie. Next up, the girls are overdue for a reality check. They're sharing thoughts on RHONY's fake news about being canceled, who they hope will return and who might be a fun addition to mix things up. Then its on to the Valley, Danny Booko's dark side, and the never ending BS that spews from Jax Taylor's mouth. Will this man ever change or even learn? Once they've dissected the Bravo drama it's time to get in the weeds. Today's topic is Artificial Intelligence and the new age of online misogyny. AI is an extremely useful tool and something both Sam and Hollis use regularly but they think we can all agree it doesn't come without concerns. They'll be discussing how AI perpetuates and exacerbates gender bias and stereotypes and racial discrimination and how it's influencing a new generation of digital natives. They even asked AI to help them understand this problem and how to solve it and you might be surprised at the answers. Chat is a self aware king and we love to see it! (And yes, chat is a man. For now anyway.) As always they wrap up the episode with gripes about driving and bedtime struggles and grapes to sign in conveniences and woodland critters. Thanks for being here!

Hey Besties! Welcome back to another episode of Or Something Like That. Sam and Hollis are back on the mics this week with a new and exciting episode. First up the girls are catching up after what seems like an eternity since they've seen each other (it's been 3 weeks). They've got travel stories, type A spirals, and hinge updates to share. Next, the girls are discussing being called out on your shit and whether or not it's possible to have empathy for someone while still finding humor in the situation. The main topic portion of the episode comes on the heels of the last Rewind episode and the girls have some thoughts on what seems to be a now viral trend trail blazed by OnlyFans stars Bonnie Blue and Annie Knight. In case you haven't heard these women are sleeping with 100s to 1000s of men in mere hours and it seems as though it's a sparked a competition. What, if anything, does this stunt mean? Are we as individuals assigning our own meanings to it and what impact is it having on society and future generations, good or bad? As always they wrap it up with gripes about wet toddler legs and the trials and tribulations of shopping and grapes to coastal grub and practical fashion. Thanks for being here!

Hey Besties! Welcome back to another Rewind episode of Or Something Like That. Hollis and I will be back on the mics for next week's episode but we've really enjoyed pulling these out of the vault and we hope you've enjoyed listening! First and foremost on today's episode we're making a reference to the title of the podcast which I'm not sure we've ever actually shared with the listeners. If you haven't put it together already I promise we'll dive into that next week! Next, we're sharing some thoughts on choosing baby names and we have a take that might surprise you! Then we're chatting about live theater and entertainment in general, what we like and don't like, why they should bring back the variety show, and that one time we saw the Book of Mormon. Hot take, it was just okay. Next up we're getting into an interesting discussion about Only Fans and share some our own personal boundaries and expectations for relationships. Would you be comfortable with a partner who was subscribed to Only Fans? We're surprised at how common this theme seems to be and we have some opinions. We'd love to hear yours so let us know in the comments. This leads into a conversation about the booming AI industry and we discuss our thoughts, hopes, and concerns about what it means for our future. As always we're wrapping up with gripes about alarms going off and thermostats and a grape to the valiant goodwill employee who was simply not taking any BS from anyone. Thanks for being here!

Hey Besties! Our team (by team I mean Hollis and me, we’re the team) is working hard to bring you a new and improved version of the podcast and we are planning to launch a rebrand by the end of the summer. Throughout the next few months while we’re plugging away to bring you an exciting new experience we'll be occasionally releasing some Rewind episodes of previously recorded content from the early days of the podcast that never aired. We’ll still be recording live and current but we thought it would be fun to look back, let you in on the beginning of the journey, and gain some insight on how we’ve evolved thus far. We’re so excited to launch the rebrand and be able to realize and share our full vision for the podcast. You can expect a name change as well as changes to the graphics and visual aesthetic. There won’t be huge changes to the content but we hope to slightly elevate it and we are thrilled to be able to put a mission statement and official brand behind it. We so appreciate all of your support over the past months and we can’t wait to show you what’s on the horizon. We think you’re going to love it! That being said, welcome to the first Rewind episode originally recorded in July of 2024! First up, we’re discussing the hard-hitting questions that kids ask and how you can prepare for some but others not so much and how sometimes even defining the simplest words can feel impossible when you’re put on the spot. Parenting is hard and also hilarious! Next up we’re talking Game of Thrones and House of Dragons amongst other HBO shows and we get into a discussion about the rise of male nudity in television and movies and how it’s different from female nudity. On one hand, justice for women who have been showing their bodies for years while the men have mostly remained clothed until recently, but on the other hand, do we really need it and do we need that much of it? Amidst that discussion we realize that as we get older it gets harder and harder to watch actors portraying minors in super sexualized roles a la that of Euphoria and similar shows. Next, we’re getting into our main topic which is a discussion about the Carter family documentary Fallen Idols (Max 2024). The documentary primarily focuses on Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys and the sexual assault allegations against him and we’ve got thoughts about the allegations, toxic fandom, child stardom, and adult male superstars with underage girls as their target audience. Next, we’re diving into some of our recent anxiety dreams and wondering why more often than not they tend to be about the past and not our current lives. And finally, we’re wrapping things up with gripes about the Clicklist and super glue tubes and grapes to fresh cut flowers and pineapple corers. Thanks for being here!

Disclaimer: Opinions shared on this podcast pertain to allegations and alleged facts outlined in the documentary Fallen Idols. Carter maintains his innocence and the legal proceedings are still ongoing. The outcomes of these cases are yet to be determined.

Hey Besties! Welcome back to another episode of Or Something Like That. We've got a very special episode for you today! Hollis is getting back out into the dating world and has finally decided it's time to get on the apps so naturally we're taking you along as we set up her Hinge profile! First up we've got some fun facts about the history of dating apps, Sam's experience meeting her husband on Match.com a decade ago, and some general best practices for the world of online dating. Next Hollis is sharing what she's looking for in terms of a relationship and partner and then we're getting right into her profile. It's a good thing we decided to do it together because there was a entire section titled "How would your friends describe you?" In addition to setting up her profile and getting that first gander at the local crop we're bringing you some of our best and worst dating stories and reminiscing on dating in our 20s. This was such a fun episode for us and we hope you enjoy!

Hey Besties! Welcome back to another episode of Or Something Like That. We’ve got a jam-packed episode for you today. First things first we’re recapping a Saturday spent at the Roaring 20s gala and the difficulties of sourcing an outfit for such an event in our mindful consumption eras. We’re laughing about how we picture our facial expressions in our minds and how different that is from how we really look and whether or not we will ever get used to seeing ourselves on camera. Perhaps someday. Next, we’re discussing the phenomenon of the millennial mole. Spoiler alert, we both have it. Do you? Also, remember when everyone hated millennials? So do we. Well, look at us now! Next, we’re wondering about body counts in the current climate of dating. Are people asking about this, does this matter? We don’t think so and we’re telling you why. Finally, we’re getting into our topic for this episode which is representation of misogyny and toxic masculinity in music. We’re discussing the Me Too era controversy around Baby Its Cold Outside and sharing some examples of songs that have always bothered us. This led us into a discussion about artists and other public figures who have disappointed us and whether or not you can separate the art from the artist and if it’s morally acceptable to do so. Lastly, we’re moving into our reality check segment of the episode where we’re discussing RHOBH and the new season of The Valley. From Garcelle’s dramatic reunion exit to Jax’s addiction and mental health journey we’re going to mention it all!
