  • The #1 Way God Changes You Inside Out – Jeremy Grinnell
    2025/04/25

One of Perry’s mentors say that the primary way we’re changed from inside out on our journey of faith is through daily repentance. Perry’s been wrestling with that in light of other scriptures that say otherwise and he bounces it off Jeremy.

Bible questions answered by Jeremy in today’s episode!

Dr. Jeremy Grinnell earned his PhD in Systematic Theology from Calvin Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, and taught at a West Michigan seminary for 15 years.

Hank asks, “God commands us to rest on the Sabbath. The Sabbath is literally Saturday. Am I disobeying God by resting on Sunday??”

Dave asks, “Is baptism required for salvation?” Stephanie asks, “The Apostle’s Creed says ‘Jesus descended into hell.’ Did he really go to hell or was it the horror of the cross, of his separation from God that was considered hell?”

Jim asks, “Jesus always made glorifying His Father the priority. At His death He says ‘Now glorify the Son.’ So, should we now be praying the Lord’s Prayer by saying, ‘Hallowed be your Names,’ since Jesus is now glorified with the Father?”

And Scotts asks, “At our Maundy Thursday sermon this year, the pastor said ‘Jesus and his disciples likely did not eat lamb at His last supper, but just the bread and wine and bitter herbs.’ I’ve never heard that before. What are your thoughts Dr. J?”

  • The Holy Land: Connecting the Land with Its Stories – Jack Beck
    2025/04/24

Experience the land, culture, and customs surrounding the Bible’s most compelling stories with geographer Dr. Jack Beck in all-new episodes of The Holy Land.

Jack Beck (PhD) is the host of the fourth and final season of the 10-episode docu-series The Holy Land: Connecting the Land with Its Stories.

Jack helps us understand the land and culture of the bible, so that our reading of the stories are transformed, and our faith is deepened!

Jack shares how the green pastures of Psalm 23 weren’t green at all. The sheep were absolutely dependent on the shepherd to lead them to the hiding tufts of grass. Showing us just how dependent we are on the Good Shepherd!

Jack shows why Jesus was compelled to go through Samaria to talk with the Samaritan woman at the well. He did it in that exact moment in time to fulfill a 2000 year old promise. What promise was that??

We see that Jesus went to Nain to raise a child from the dead to accomplish an identical miracle that happened in the same place over 1000 years before that. So that the people could begin to understand Jesus’ true identity.

Finally Jack shows us that Jesus followed the same path as David when David’s life was threatened. For David he fled past Gethsemane into the safe Judean wilderness. Jesus could have taken that same path to safety. But he chose not to. Why?

Also in this episode, Perry shares, “In my early journey with Jesus when I’d fail, I thought, ‘I’ll never change.’ But I don’t believe that anymore. Because I understand something powerful now that I didn’t then.”

As Shawna read the story of Jesus’ resurrection it stood out to her that Mary was with Jesus in the garden, and she didn’t know it. And the disciples on the road to Emmaus walked with Jesus and they didn’t know it was him. It made her wonder, “Lord, are there times that you have been right here, and I didn’t know it?”

  • “God Was Next to Me, and I Didn’t Even Know It” - Shawna
    2025/04/23

At 4 years old, laying in the grass in the middle of the ballfield Shawna thought, “If I died no one would care”. That was the first time she thought her life didn’t matter. When that memory came flooding back as an adult she asked, “Lord, where were you?”

Imagine the blood and water flowing from Jesus’ wounded side. It becomes a river of life flowing into the ocean of God’s unfailing love. And when you give your life over to Jesus you are plunged, full body, into this ocean. It’s a deep dive into what it means to be “In Christ.”

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. We know this firsthand. Don’t believe me? Skip your cup of morning coffee and your flesh will let you know how weak it really is. We can, with God’s help, train our bodies to be obedient to the will of God.

It was Good Friday at Perry’s church. Every heart was tuned to Jesus. Perry says, “I felt the love of God again come pouring into my heart by the Holy Spirit. But as much as I need these experiences, they’re not just for me, they’re for the world!”
