  • Under Pressure: Tools for Burnout and Goal-Setting Stress
    2024/12/11

As the year draws to a close, it's hard to believe that 2024 is ending and the New Year is just around the corner. This time of year often brings mixed emotions—a bittersweet blend of joy, reflection, and perhaps some burnout. The whirlwind of holiday preparations, year-end work demands, and the anticipation of the “New Year, New You” mentality can feel overwhelming.

In this episode, I dive into the rollercoaster of emotions that December brings. Inspired by year-end Instagram reviews and my tradition of creating photobooks for my family, I share how looking back on memories can be a source of glimmers and gratitude. However, I recognize that not everyone has the same habits or resources to reflect on the positive, which can make this time of year challenging.

December is unique—it's a time of both winding down and ramping up. The holidays bring a special kind of enrichment through gatherings and celebrations, but they can also push us closer to burnout as we try to do it all. If you’re feeling the strain, it’s essential to reach into your “toolbox” of strategies to manage stress and find balance. Whether it’s journaling, practicing stillness, exercising, or seeking help, these tools can help you navigate the pressures of the season.

As we transition from the holidays to the New Year, many of us feel the pull of fresh starts, goal setting, and new routines. While it’s natural to feel this way, it’s important to manage expectations and avoid the societal pressures that come with the “New Year, New You” narrative. I encourage you to take a bird’s-eye view of the upcoming year, setting smaller, sustainable goals that span all 12 months instead of focusing solely on January.

This episode is a reminder to give yourself grace during this time. Listen to your body, reflect on your needs, and use the tools available to you. Whether you're wrapping up the year or preparing for the next, you have the capacity to succeed in your own way. Let’s embrace a realistic, empowered approach to closing out 2024 and stepping into 2025.

  • Permission to Adjust: How Acknowledging Your Limits Fuels Success
    2024/12/04

Welcome to this week’s episode of the One Seed Podcast! Today, we dive into a topic that’s been sitting in my Notes app for a while, waiting for the right moment to share: “Recognizing your limits isn’t giving up; it’s giving yourself permission to succeed differently.” This episode is inspired by the idea that limits are often misinterpreted as failures, but they’re actually opportunities to find a better path to success.

As we wrap up the year, it’s a time when many of us feel stretched thin. The holidays, the to-do lists, and the mental load can push us to our limits faster than usual. But here’s the truth: acknowledging your limits doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re wise enough to know what you can handle and strong enough to honor it. In this episode, I reflect on the societal pressures to push through at all costs and share my journey from burnout to embracing a more balanced approach to life.

This episode is a gentle reminder that success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone—or even the same for you every day. Your limits may change based on the season, your workload, or your emotional state, and that’s okay. What matters is recognizing those limits and adjusting accordingly to find sustainable, joyful ways to thrive.

As the year winds down, I encourage you to reflect on your own limits and how you can honour them. Try out some of the strategies I share and let me know how they work for you. Whether it’s creating small systems to reduce stress or leaning on your support network, every step you take toward honouring your limits is a step toward living authentically.

  • Stop Forcing It: Simple Shifts to Create More Joy
    2024/11/27

Are you unknowingly rushing through life, robbing yourself of joyful moments? In this episode, I dive into the subtle but powerful ways we can create more joy by reducing everyday frustrations. Inspired by a personal experience with Saturday morning hockey routines, I share how adjusting my approach to time management transformed a rushed, stressful activity into a moment of connection and gratitude.

As the gatekeeper of my family's time, I realized that the root of my frustration wasn’t the task itself but how I allocated time for it. By recognizing my daughter’s need for independence and allowing her the time she needed to get ready, I reclaimed the joy of being present. This small shift reminded me that frustration often stems from trying to make something fit that simply doesn’t.

Whether it’s navigating a busy morning, managing client work, or tackling a mundane task like accounting, this episode challenges you to identify those recurring frustrations and explore how proper time allocation can transform your experience. By reducing unnecessary stress, you open the door to more joy, creativity, and fulfillment in your daily life.

Take a moment to reflect: Are you giving yourself and others the time needed to fully embrace the moment? Let’s explore how you can make small changes for a more joyful life.
