It’s becoming an essential tool to enhance our ability to identify malignant narcissistic individuals in this modern world, where there is so much exposure to new people, without a more traditional community based point of reference, to assess trustworthiness via reputation. Identifying a Covert Narcissist’s behavior patterns and relationship cycles in romantic, workplace, familial and friendship settings can save hurt, financial abuse, and loss of time, when a person is educated in narcissistic abuse.     Almost the entire behaviour cycle of a covert narcissist involves smearing their targets name and character, from devaluation through discard and the ensuing smear campaign. Narcissists operate in a darker murkier energy from which they manifest destructive behaviour and tendencies. It is inevitable that a narcissist will devalue anyone they subconsciously and consciously deem to threaten their control aka is showing signs of being superior to the narcissist. To be targeted and smeared by a narcissist is actually a back handed compliment but it’s gruesome nature is highly undesirable. However there are successful ways to deal with such an onslaught and perspective and education is fundamental here. Understanding what is actually happening and personal detachment coupled with personal stability and success are the most successful anecdotes to a narcissist’s smear campaign.

    Narcissists all operate from the same playbook which makes them easier to identify observing their very predictable behaviour patterns. Narcissists are typically not emotionally intelligent or at least very under developed emotionally. Coupled with a malign approach when their control is in any way threatened or even perceived to be so, their emotional bomb throwing when taken to heart can cause confusion and destruction. Once you understand that the words and phrases narcissists commonly use at and during the discard are part and parcel of their disordered personality and malignant energy sources it becomes easier to depersonalise the experience. Education and understanding coupled with a depersonalisation can be very freeing and ultimately is the first stage in healing from such an encounter.

    A Community Member has shared his intimate story with a female narcissist in a long term relationship to support full disclosure on how a covert narcissist operates behind the mask in a close setting. From the beginning of the relationship with a narcissist through devaluation and discard, to discovery of the truth via counselling this journey may well resonate and assist anyone on a healing journey. Such examples of close encounters with narcissists are highly educational as the traits of a narcissist outlined in this excellent example are generally identical, particularly in the intimate relationship setting. In listening to this persons story you may well be able to identify signs that your current partner or ex partner may possibly be a narcissist. Hopefully this story will inspire some lightbulb moments and assist in your healing journey by providing insights and validation.
