  • Jason Robison: The causes and cure for homelessness - Be a good friend.
    2023/02/16

In the past few years, billions of dollars have been spent on homelessness in the LA county alone, yet the impact is questionable at best. The numbers have not changed and the root cause is missed by many.

In this episode we dive into a topic near and dear to my heart, trauma, recovery and in particular, homelessness, the root cause and what each and every one of us can do about it.

    About Jason

Jason Robison is the Chief Program Officer for SHARE! the Self-Help And Recovery Exchange and has over 17 years of experience in Peer Services, education, recovery, housing and health.

SHARE! provides safe places for people to recover, including two self-help recovery centers which host 130 self-help support groups each week, a Peer-run Respite Home, SHARE! Collaborative Housing - affordable, resident-run houses - and referrals to more than 12,000 self-help support groups in Los Angeles County. Jason helped design SHARE!’s Advanced Peer Specialist Training which has trained and placed over 500 Peers in Peer Specialist positions in 28 California since 2016. SHARE worked with OSHPD, SAMHSA and the University of Texas El Paso to implement the Supervision of the Peer Workforce Project which trained supervisors of Peer Services.

Jason also serves on the Board of Directors for CAMHPRO and is the Co-Chair of the National Recovery Month Steering Committee.

  • Traver Bohem: Man Uncivilized - Reigniting masculinity, healing wounds and making the world safer.
    2023/02/16

Traver Boehm is the author of Today I Rise, and Man UNcivilized. He’s a two time TEDx speaker, men’s coach and the founder of the UNcivilized Men’s Movement. This movement is radically redefining the way men around the globe experience their masculinity by uniquely blending both primal elements of manhood with massive doses of consciousness.

Drawing upon an eclectic background ranging from professional bodyguarding and Mixed Martial Arts to Traditional Chinese Medicine and meditation, Traver also teaches people to skillfully use the inevitable pain of their lives as fuel for growth and positive change.

After publishing Today I Rise and receiving an influx of calls specifically from men, Traver began guiding men through their own journey into an actualized version masculinity by asking them these two questions:

“Are you leading or being led?” And, “What are your wounds and what are you doing to heal them?”

    And the movement was born.

Now men all over the world have deemed themselves UNcivilized as they wake up to meditate, feel into their hearts, and train their bodies. Men who can fight, f**k, feed, and feel. And do all four well.

  • Sherry Strong: A simple food philosophy for life.
    2023/02/16

Prior to Covid, Sherry was an international keynote speaker, television host, and multi-media expert on wellness. She was the Victorian Chair of Nutrition Australia, Melbourne President of Slow Food, and sat on boards that consulted to the Australian government on public health policy.

She moved to Northern Alberta in Nov 2020 to help care for her disabled and aging parents so that they didn't go to a nursing home. Since arriving she has become the Alberta Director for Children's Health Defense conducting over 80 interviews with doctors, nurses, scientists, and victims of mandates. She is the National Wellbeing Director for Life Force Canada and is working on a new multi-media program called Gettin Strong - For Our Kids which she would call her most critical work to date.

Sherry and I dive into her simple food philosophy and the impact this simple way to view things works and heals in the modern world.

We Are Meant to Eat Together

Eat with people whom you love and respect, who love and respect you, and who love and respect food.

Eat with people who are learning to cook, with sincerity of heart; children are a great example of this.

Eat with all your senses, masticating textures, smelling sensuous aromas, tasting luscious flavours.

Eat with people who aren’t afraid to make noises like

    ummm, ahhh, and oohh.

Eat with people who aren’t afraid to make a mess, lick their fingers, clean out the bowl, and eat with their hands.

Eat after the perspiration of a rigorous jog, invigorating walk, in the lusty afterglow from a roll in the hay; it’s much healthier than smoking a cigarette.

Eat with people who laugh and smile a lot,

people who tell stories and spin yarns.

Eat with people who are generous and share. Full stop.

Eat with all your fondest memories, triumphs through tragedy,

    and memories of love.

Eat with people who love to cook and eat.

Eat with people who are gracious and grateful.

Eat with people who are nonjudgmental and forgiving, who can see both sides of the story and still have an opinion.

Eat with love, passion, compassion in your heart,

    and while searching your soul.

Eat with people who love life and are genuinely interested in you and the world around you.

And finally, if you eat like this and with people who do and are all these things, pleeease ... invite me for dinner.

  • Monica Smit: The essential role of community in the fight for freedom.
    2022/08/18

Monica has been on the front line of Australia's fight for freedom since August 2020. Most recently she is internationally recognized as Australia's first political prisoner. She spent 22 days in solitary confinement for refusing to sign draconian bail conditions. The conditions were appealed and revoked. She is now free to continue her work.

She founded an organization called 'Reignite Democracy Australia', which now offers a business directory, a social media platform, 100 community groups around the country and keeps Australians informed every day with current news and resources.

In this interview, she opens up about her personal journey of youthful mistakes, forgiveness, family, community, Church, journalism and empowering you in the fight for freedom.

She also shares RDA's change in strategy, focused on - community, connection and building the new, including the bold ambition to create a new WHO, WEF and the like. All of which are non-elected bodies that seem to govern our lives and take our freedoms.

Naturally, you will form your own point of view, and at least here you can see more of the real Monica Smit, some of what's happened to Australia and an exciting future for us all - if we take action.

She's also working closely with political parties who respect human rights in the upcoming federal election. You can read more and connect to the reignite freedom community here.
