Osho describes love as transformation. It is painful because it transforms and transformation is going to be painful because the old has to be left for the new. While the old is familiar, secure, safe, the new is absolutely unknown. With love we will be moving in an uncharted ocean.

What if Jesus were not a supernatural being conceived by a virgin but a real human being who had experienced the awakening of consciousness known as "enlightenment" in the East? They must be really very poor inside, because only people suffering from an inferiority complex want to impress others. A really superior person never compares himself with anybody else. He knows he is incomparable; not only that, he knows others are also as incomparable as he is. He is neither superior nor inferior."

Osho speaks in response to a question about the right way to help children to grow without interfering in their natural potentiality.

During his stay in the United States at the time of the Ronald Reagan administration, Osho continues his public talks after a more than three-year period of silence. In his talks he continues to speak of personal transformation and the significance of meditation in daily life. In addition, he also talks extensively on social and political issues, which seem to be more contemporary than ever today. "Priests and Politicians–The Mafia of the Soul" is a title Osho gives to a book after his return to India.

In this meeting, Osho answers this question, asked by a visitor: More and more I see how my energy is either going very high or very low, how sometimes I get very excited, come down again and then feel embarrassed about what happened during this state of excitement.

Wisdom, says Buddha, arises from within, and is the only true knowledge. In The Dhammapada Osho speaks on wisdom, which he calls knowing, and on the difference between knowing and knowledge. Knowing, he says, is spontaneous response: it comes from inner silence, it is our own truth, an existential experience. Knowledge is dependent on the past, it is mechanical, it is second-hand, it comes from another, and hides the truth from ourselves. Knowing gives us inner direction; knowledge only outer direction. And the key to the intuitive faculty of knowing is meditation.
