The following is Roosevelt's Infamy Speech to a joint session of Congress on December 8, 1941, one day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 - April 12, 1945), was an American politician and lawyer who served as the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945.

Thousands of miles from friendly ports, the US Navy had finally managed to complete the capture of Guadalcanal from the Japanese in early 1943. Now the Allies sought to keep the offensive momentum won at such a high cost.
