  • "Absolute carnage" as Klomp wins it late for Cavalry in "fairy tale" victory
    2025/08/18

In our weekend recap episode, we break down what happened in that chaotic fairy tale match between Cavalry FC and Vancouver FC on Sunday. The 5-4 win tied for the most goals scored in a CPL match. The action was fast and furious. The ending seems too unbelievable. Almost like it was scripted, Daan Klomp scored the winning goal with a header at the death.

We also review the Calgary Wild's 1-0 victory over Halifax, marking the first time the Wild has won two in a row. We discuss how the Wild have been looking better over the last few weeks and their chances of moving up the table into a playoff position.

We also provide an update on the Canada Summer Games where the boys won a silver on Friday and the girls start play on Tuesday.

    2025/08/11

Cavalry FC and HFX Wanderers played to a goalless draw at Spruce Meadows this weekend. Considering no goals were scored there was a lot to talk about in this match, including a disallowed goal called back by a phantom foul and a hand ball in the box that wasn't called. We discuss our thoughts and impressions about the match. We also talk about Jay Herdman's loan and Daan Klomp becoming a free agent.

The Calgary Blizzard secured the bronze medal at the League One Canada Inter-Provincial Championships. We talk about the matches and about how roster composition for this tournament can be a big challenge.

    2025/08/04

We recap the pivotal final weekend of League One Alberta matches. The Calgary Blizzard won the women's division on Friday evening at Broadview with a win over Villains. The Blizzard men's team needed to wait until Sunday afternoon to lift their trophy. They prevailed in the final showdown against the St. Albert Impact. We talk about both matches.

The Calgary Wild played AFC Toronto at McMahon on Saturday. Their offence showed some signs of life but they weren't able to defeat Toronto, who had one of their goals come from Calgarian Kaylee Hunter.

We preview Cavalry FC's match vs Pacific on Monday afternoon. Typically Cavalry has played well against Pacific and they could really use a good performance (and three points) to snap out of their recent funk.

Also we have a brief Sydney Wathuta update as he's been playing really well for Rapids 2 and recently had a chance to join the senior side.

  • Mistakes playing out from the back cost both Cavalry and the Wild
    2025/07/28

We recap Cavalry FC's loss to York United at Spruce Meadows on Saturday. For a 1-0 match there seemed to be a lot to talk about, including the stats, York 's current run of form, debuts for a couple of new players, questionable calls and a melee after the final whistle.

In Montreal, the Calgary Wild also suffered defeat by a 2-0 score. The goals they allowed were reminiscent of what Cavalry conceded a couple of hours earlier. The Wild also had a couple of players make their debuts.

No champions crowned in League One Alberta over the weekend. But now the pathway for a Blizzard sweep has emerged. Both men's and women's teams control their destinies, but St. Albert (men's) and Foothills (women's) still have a chance.
