Melvin Muhammad | Is a former board member of, Malcolm X Memorial Foundation
A resident of Omaha since the early 1960s, Melvin grew up, like most young children in North Omaha, in a single-family home. He is the third of four children, two older sisters, and a younger brother. After high school, Melvin joined the United States Air Force. After working for 52 years in corporate America, state government, and the public school system as well as the healthcare system in various positions, he returned to Omaha and in 1993 married his wife Carla. Together they raised three sons. Now in his retirement, Melvin is teaching Shaolin Chuan Fa Martial Arts. Additionally, he provides a measure of care work with youth and their parents on a consistent basis. Melvin has dedicated 40 years of his adult life working in Omaha attempting to ensure the children and adults in his community have a safe and decent place to live.
