His service to the University of Texas at Austin began in October 2008, as a member of the Strategic IT Advisory Committee (SITAC). In 2009, he was asked to lead the implementation of the SITAC recommendations as the Chief Operating Officer of Information Technology Services (ITS), was named CIO in March 2010, and retired in March 2017.
