  • Prayer: Communing With God The Shema – Deuteronomy 6:4-9
    2025/07/20
“Jesus loves me” is one of the earliest songs about the Christian faith that many of us ever learned. The song is simple and catchy, and reminds us of God's ability to love and care for us. Not long after we learn this song and important concept – we’re taught that we are to, in turn, love God. We’ve grown up with this understanding – we’ve never known teaching about God apart from it. But the concept of loving the God you worship – was entirely new to the Ancient Near East when it was introduced in the book of Deuteronomy. Other gods were feared, worshipped, sacrificed to, but never loved. In the Shema – we learn about the love of God – and the love we are to have for Him. Join us as we explore this essential understanding around prayer! -Pastor Nate Roschen

  • Prayer: Communing With God The Aaronic Blessing
    2025/07/13
What is a blessing? The oldest recorded passage of Scripture written down anywhere in the world is a blessing – the one that the priests were commanded to bless the Israelites with. As we continue our study of prayer – we turn our attention to a prayer for the greatest gift imaginable in the Old Testament – God’s presence and favor. The Israelites were taught to pray real prayers - not abstract and intangible, but real and personal. Join us this week as we turn to the book of Numbers to see how the history of the Jewish people gave important context to their need to learn to pray in such a way. We will study together this first example of a model for prayer and blessing. -Pastor Nate Roschen

  • The Prophets: Courageous and Compassionate Faith Haggai
    2025/06/15
Join us this Father’s Day as we give thanks for the fathers and men of our congregation and our community. We are grateful for their influence and passionate faith! This Sunday we continue our study of the prophets by turning to the book of Haggai. Haggai was a prophet during the time of Judah’s return to the land after the exile. During this time the people were hesitant to rebuild the temple. The apathy they experienced from their suffering and loss led them to focus on themselves and not God. God speaks through Haggai to encourage them to do what they thought was pointless – rebuild the temple. Join us this week as we explore obedience in the face of apathy. -Pastor Nate Roschen

  • The Prophets: Courageous and Compassionate Faith: Obadiah
    2025/06/08
Since the Fall – there has been conflict and tension on this earth. Struggles that don’t seem to ever resolve. These kinds of tensions leave us with a sense of Us vs. Them. Like the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s – these ongoing conflicts leave us in a lurch. The book of Obadiah speaks into one of these conflicts, a sore spot for the nation of Israel, its ongoing feud with Edom. Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament, and like the prophetic book of Nahum, it is dedicated to the judgment of one nation – Edom. Edom had betrayed Israel, preyed on her, and took advantage of her when she was weak. And as we have seen in the other prophets – we are left to wait and watch – for what God will do. Join us this week as we study together! -Pastor Nate Roschen

  • The Prophets: Courageous and Compassionate Faith: Daniel
    2025/06/01
If you have ever known devastating loss, a grief that you didn’t know how you’d ever get past – then Daniel is your book. Daniel was just a young man when he was led into Babylonian exile. 90% of Judah was killed in this time, so in a sense, Daniel was one of the “lucky ones.” As we’ll see this week, Daniel lost not only his past and his present life, but also much of his future on earth was taken from him as well. These are all of the earthly conditions. These are the human concerns. The book of Daniel is about what God will do in the midst of them. Join us this Sunday as we see God show up in the life of Daniel and his friends and they cope with their grief. Join us as we explore this book and the heart of God put on display within. -Pastor Nate Roschen
