What a CreepHulk HoganSeason 27, Episode 12Are you ready to talk about Hulk Hogan, brother?Wrestler Hulk Hogan was everywhere through the ’80s. He appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated, TV Guide, and PEOPLE. He had his Saturday morning cartoon show and was the most-requested celebrity of the ’80s for the Make-A-Wish foundation. He also had a run of movies in the 80s and '90s. But now, he’s mainly known for lying, for a leaked sex tape filled with his racist and homophobic rants, and for being one of Predator Trump’s few “celebrity” endorsements. • "The Day the Music Died" The Death of Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson, and Richie Valens
    2024/12/20
    What a Creep
    “The Day the Music Died”
    Season 27, Episode 10

"The Day the Music Died" is a phrase coined by singer-songwriter Don McLean in 1971 in his 8-and-a-half-minute song “American Pie.” The tragic deaths of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens on February 3, 1959, shocked the world and have been the subject of study for decades. In this episode, I will discuss the lives of the men who lost their lives that night and the harsh realities of life on tour during the early days of rock and roll.

We don’t know much about the UFC or that “Road House” remake, but we know a creep when we see one. And this guy is a creep who is racist and has been accused of sexual assault multiple times and was recently found liable in a civil court in Ireland for rape and ordered to pay the victim a quarter of a million dollars.

  • The Disappointment of Gen X Men: Mix Tapes, Manic Pixies, Toxic Fandom, & More!
    2024/11/29
What a CreepSeason 27, Episode 7The Disappointment of Gen-X MenBorn between 1965 and 1980, Gen X is often referred to as the “forgotten generation.” They were raised on MTV, punk rock, hiphop, the Cold War, afterschool specials, latchkey childhoods, and a healthy dose of cynicism. They gave us grunge music, independent films, mix-tape culture, and some of the best pop culture of the late 20th century. But along with all that coolness came a hefty dose of entitlement, misogyny, and resistance to change—especially when it came to gender equality.Today, we’re going to break it all down: the mix-tape mentality, toxic fandom, the fetishization of the “manic pixie dream girl,” the anti-hippie ethos, and how these dynamics played out with public figures like JD Vance, Dave Grohl, Chris Rock, Joe Rogan, and even Kurt Cobain.Sources for this episode:Yahoo.comNew York TimesCompact MagazineWikipedia Gen XPure WowToronto Star Jian GhomeshiDaily Beast“Nice Guys and Wife Guys” “Toxic Fandom”“Pick-Me Girls & Cool Girls”Our noncreep is Seuk Kim, a pilot who flew rescue dogs all over the country. What a Creep
    Season 27, Episode 6
    Ken Starr

Ken Starr was the independent prosecutor who basically wasted millions in taxpayer dollars to investigate President Bill Clinton. He’s also been on the wrong side of history when it comes to gay marriage, religious freedom, and sexual abuse. Over the course of his career, he argued 36 times before the Supreme Court.
Oh, and he mentored Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh. Thanks a lot, creep.

  • Creepy Fairy Tale Origin Stories of The Little Mermaid, Little Red Riding Hood & Hansel and Gretel
    2024/11/16
    What a Creep
    Season 27, Episode 5
    Creepy Fairy Tale Origin Stories!

Forget everything you learned from animated films… several beloved fairy tales are far from the joyous Disney creatures we have all seen since childhood. This episode discusses the dark worlds behind Little Red Riding Hood, The Little Mermaid, and Hansel and Gretel. The sanitized versions of these fairy tales we share today keep only hints of these origins, but the eerie stories lurking beneath the surface remind us that fairy tales weren’t always about happy endings.
