We made it to EPISODE 10!
This episode is inspired by an article by Isabella Chase called, 8 Everyday Luxuries Wealthy People Quietly Avoid Because They Know the Math.

    https://geediting.com/gen-8-everyday-luxuries-wealthy-people-quietly-avoid-because-they-know-the-math/

I'll share my thoughts on the article and go into my personal journey with some of these luxury items that can drain your bank accounts quickly. I'll also share which one of these items I have trouble parting ways with. We will also go into the difference between being rich and being wealthy.

I'd love to hear which of these items you spend your money on and why you won't or don't want to give it up.

  • Ep 9 My Financial Heroes
    2025/04/23

    Send us a text

Welcome to today's episode of Unshackled 4 Life, where we’ll dive into the minds and works of those who have inspired my journey in financial coaching. These individuals have shaped my perspective on wealth-building, economic empowerment, and financial literacy. Today, I want to honor Dr. Boyce Watkins, Dr. Claude Anderson, John Hope Bryant, and Dave Ramsey—each a beacon of wisdom in their own unique way.

Dr. Boyce Watkins is a financial educator and advocate for economic empowerment, particularly within the Black community. His book The 10 Commandments of Black Economic Power emphasizes principles like ownership, entrepreneurship, and generational wealth. Dr. Watkins believes in the power of financial literacy as a tool for independence and success. His teachings have inspired me to focus on the transformative impact of financial education. You can learn more about him at The Black Business School or his official website.

Dr. Claude Anderson is the visionary behind the concept of "PowerNomics," which offers strategies for Black America to achieve self-sufficiency and economic competitiveness. His book PowerNomics: The National Plan to Empower Black America is a blueprint for empowerment through resource pooling and community-focused economic strategies. Dr. Anderson's work reminds me of the importance of collective action and long-term planning in financial coaching. You can explore his work at PowerNomics Corporation or The Harvest Institute.

John Hope Bryant is a champion of financial literacy and inclusive capitalism. As the founder of Operation HOPE, he has directed billions of dollars into underserved communities. His book How the Poor Can Save Capitalism challenges traditional notions of wealth and poverty, advocating for financial inclusion as a path to economic growth. Bryant's work inspires me to see financial coaching as a means to uplift entire communities. You can find more about him at Operation HOPE or his personal website.

Dave Ramsey is a household name in personal finance, known for his straightforward advice and "Baby Steps" approach to financial freedom. His book The Total Money Makeover is a practical guide to budgeting, debt elimination, and wealth-building. Ramsey's emphasis on discipline and accountability has been a cornerstone in my coaching philosophy. You can explore his resources at Ramsey Solutions.

These four individuals have profoundly influenced my approach to financial coaching. Their books, teachings, and quotes serve as a reminder that financial literacy is not just about numbers—it's about empowerment, transformation, and creating a legacy. I hope their insights inspire you as much as they have inspired me.
