  • Welcome, friend! Unpolished Faith is a space of belonging for Christian women who feel out of place. The REAL you belongs here. We are carving out a space on the internet that’s raw and real—free from all the "isms" that hold you back from a whole life with God. This isn’t the perfect, polished podcast you often find in Christian women's circles. Join international speaker and writer @madifranquiz as she fearlessly navigates the raw and unfiltered aspects of the Christian faith. From singleness to mental health, politics, and everyday Christian life, we have authentic conversations, diving into topics that matter deeply but aren't always discussed openly. Yeah, it’s unpolished. But that’s kind of the point. The last four years in Madi’s life have been wild, filled with crazy twists and turns. The Lord showed up for her somewhere between obedience, hard knocks, and hard work. She has learned one lesson through her journey: God is not looking for perfect; He wants all of us just as we are. It's been a journey of surrender and discovery, realizing she is no longer about being perfect, polished, and performing for her worth. The liberating truth is that it's in our messiness where we encounter God's grace the most. From holding back due to the fear of imperfection to finally surrendering to God's plan, Madi's story exemplifies the transformative power of embracing our flaws and allowing God to work through them. And, now, she wants to share in this freedom with you. Get ready for candid conversations, inspiring narratives, and practical insights that will challenge and transform your faith journey and encourage you to live authentically. Each episode delves into the stories and experiences Christians sometimes shy away from—the struggles, doubts, and questions integral to living out our faith. This won’t be a stuffy, “churchy,” one-sided conversation. Throughout the podcast, Madi invites friends, family, pastors, academics, theologians, authors, and everyone in between to join the conversation because, just like you, they are unpolished, too. This podcast reminds you that it's okay not to have it all together. We have someone who is perfect, so we don't have to be. So, if you're seeking hope, growth, meaning, and a deeper understanding of how the gospel can transform your life, 'Unpolished Faith' is for you. The invitation to live free is open! So, pull up a chair or turn up the radio in your car. Let’s uncover the woman you were created to be. Together, we'll discover that amid life's messiness, the real stuff is indeed the good stuff.

  • Why Do Christians Have Different Convictions? | Pastor Bobby Brown
    2024/10/31

Welcome back to another episode of Unpolished Faith friend! Today is October 31, and I cannot tell you how many reels and Tik Toks I have seen over the last couple weeks asking questions like:

    Can Christians participate in Halloween?

Can we watch scary movies? Or even spooky movies like Hocus Pocus?

Can my kids read Harry Potter and Other Things?

Not everything that we encounter in culture today is explicitly laid out in the Bible. So how do we make good decisions about controversial topics that are not laid out in the Bible?

Much like the "meat sacrificed to idols" principle, not everything is good and profitable. We know we live in the world, but we are not of the world. In this conversation, Pastor Robby Brown and I take something like Halloween, a topic that often raises questions among Christians, and use it as an example to lay out a biblical framework for making sound decisions in our modern culture.

  • Can I Stay Christian in College? | Patricia Engler and Answers in Genesis
    2024/10/17

Hi friend! Welcome back to another episode of Unpolished Faith! On today's show Madi Franquiz and Patricia Engler discuss navigating college life as a Christian.

Patricia Engler is a Christian apologetics speaker, author, and podcast host for Answers in Genesis. She joined AiG–Canada as a speaker, writer, and youth outreach coordinator in 2019 before transferring to AiG–US in 2022. She also serves as an Answers News panelist and cohosts Zero Compromise, AiG’s podcast for young adults.

After graduating from homeschooling and earning a BSc degree, Patricia backpacked 360 degrees around the world in 180 days documenting how Christian students keep their faith at university. The top takeaways from this research are available in Patricia’s book, Prepare to Thrive: A Survival Guide for Christian Students. In 2022, she embarked on a second backpacking journey to research Marxism’s history and consequences in Europe. Both backpacking trips formed the basis for separate teaching series available on Patricia’s blog. Patricia is now pursuing an MA in bioethics to help Christians think biblically about sanctity of life issues and emerging technologies.

Madi and Patricia address questions like "How can I stand firm in my beliefs on a secular campus?" and "What tools do I need to stay rooted in Christ during these years?" Whether you're heading to college, currently a student, or know someone who is, this episode is packed with practical insights and encouragement for living out your faith boldly.

Thanks for listening and sharing with a friend!
