  • 121. Unconscious Bias Training - Part 1: Introduction
    2025/05/22

For a long while, I’ve been thinking that I should provide you as listeners some of my unconscious bias workshop in chunks because I think it is more important than ever before. I’ve taught this for years, and before that I worked on my deeper understanding of myself and actually how to teach it is a way that could be effective. I’m a better person for digging deep into how unconscious bias works in myself. I’m a better spouse, mother, grandmother, employee, neighbor, and church goer. I could make the name of this and just called it “Becoming a better human being” or “Becoming less judgmental,” as that is what it is.

When I do it in person or on Zoom, it is 3-hour training with all of the activities. This will be shorter and most likely less effective, but I still think it will provide insights for you. My expectation is that it will be at least 6 episodes for 15-20 minutes each, but we'll see. I hope you'll listen in!

  • 120. We Are Made for Connections
    2025/05/15

I just finished reading a report that came out a few months ago titled “The Connection Opportunity: Insights forBringing Americans Together Across Difference” by a group called “More in Common.” I had such interesting insights come to me from reading it, and I wanted to read sections of the introduction and the key findings as I think this are important to understand.

Humans are wired to connect. From an early age, we seek out familiar voices and faces, we monitor the needs and emotions of others, and we engage in play and mimic what we see people around us do. This need for connection is so fundamental that being deprived of it can contribute to negative health outcomes, ranging from heart disease to mental illness. Although the frequency with which people interact with others naturally fluctuates across the lifespan—of sustained periods of social isolation pose a serious risk to lifelong well-being.

This report focuses on what Americans are saying keeps them from connecting, particularly across differences and what helps them want to connect more.

  • 119. We are Whole Enough
    2025/05/08

In this 119th episode of Unleashing Sister Saints, I want to share some of my thoughts as I listened to President Camille Johnson’s talk during one of the sessions of the April 2025 General Conference. Her talk was titled “Spiritually Whole in Him.” She said, “Wholeness does not necessarily mean physical and emotional restoration in this life. Wholeness is born of faith in and conversion to Jesus Christ." I had some "ahahs" during her talk and have reviewed it multiple times since.

I conclude with this thought: Each of us has scars of some kind, but I testify that we are whole-enough to be able to receive personal revelation from on high and feel that peace of the Holy Ghost wash over our whole beings. We are whole-enough to continue to use the gift of the Son’s Atonement, whenever we chose to be chosen. Let’s choose to feel whole-enough. Listen in!
