Andrew and Michelle are joined by Jeff Koch, Coordinator and Program Manager at the Superior Watershed Partnership and Land Conservancy as well as caretaker of the Stannard Rock Light! Jeff has been a part of the SWP for about 9 years and in that time has organized numerous trips out to the Stannard Rock in the name of science and bettering a historical landmark. He talks to us about the importance of conservation efforts for the lakes, how you can get involved (yes, you!), the crazy adventures it sometimes takes just getting to the lighthouse, and so much more. Andrew and Michelle tackle one of the worst passenger ship tragedies to ever hit Lake Superior. Learn about the SS Algoma, her sister ships, the SS Athabasca and the SS Alberta, their crazy trip all of the way from Glasgow, the firsts, titles, and fanfare that came with them, and the wild hurricane-level storm that ended the Algoma's career.
