  • Episode 45 - A Conversation With Andy Scott - Remembering Our Founders
    2024/08/20

    Send us a Text Message.

In this episode I have a conversation with Andy Scott, the youngest son of Paul and Peggie Scott.

The Sojourners are the result of a long-time dream of Paul and Peggie Scott. The couple witnessed the needs and struggles of the smaller congregations where they lived and visited while Paul served in the Navy. God planted within their hearts a lingering desire to help these congregations become self-supporting and to equip them to grow the Church in their communities.

Although they didn’t know the specifics of how they would effectively help these congregations, they knew that God was calling them for this purpose. After Paul retired from the military, they attended Sunset School of Preaching in preparation for their journey. They were then joined by Richard and Georgie Jones and together they began to realize their dream by using their RVs to travel and serve.

After several years in various missions, Paul and Peggie joined Marvin and Linda Hall, as well as others who were interested in serving. They held their first workshop in Weslaco, Texas, and in January 1979, the group adopted their identifying name of National Evangelism With Sojourners.

I invite you to listen to Andy as he recalls the life and inspiration of Paul and Peggy Scott.

  • Episode 44 - A Conversation With Aaron Anderson of the Home of Hope and Recovery
    2024/08/13

    Hello Fellow Sojourners,

I want to share a conversation posted on my other podcast, Our Journey to Hope. There is a sojourn planned to support this entity in 2025. Please look for it when deciding which sojourns to participate in next year. I will be the team leader for it. If interested, please let me know.

Everyone has a past that might have things we're ashamed of or have regrets. Some have extreme situations from which they are seeking to grow out of. Another point to note is that when something has become a lifestyle or identity, it is not easy to come out of it. It usually takes what is known as a significant emotional event.

In this episode I have a conversation with Aaron Anderson about such a journey to hope. Aaron is the administrator of the Home for Recovery and Restoration located in Winnsboro, Texas. This incredible organization is committed to helping men that have been imprisoned for substance abuse to return to life. For some, it is the first time in their life that they have hope. While in the home, these men receive encouragement to maintain sobriety but most importantly, they hear the good news of true and lasting hope found only through Jesus Christ. As a result, many become disciples of our Lord, some even becoming gospel preachers.

I encourage you to listen to Aaron's compelling story as a drug and alcohol abuser himself and how he made his journey to hope and how he is now helping others in theirs.

You can learn more about the Home for Recovery and Restoration by going to their web site at: https://homeofrecovery.org/

Co-located with the Home of Recovery and Restoration is the Labms Academy of Biblical Studies. Their website is: https://www.thelambsacademyofbiblicalstudies.com/
