Keri is a yoga + meditation teacher and a mom. She specializes in mental health and being a real person with real issues as a mom. Keri loves to share what we can do as moms to move forward and not feel shame, as well as having the necessary conversations to normalize mental health struggles within motherhood. We Discuss: • Keri’s journey into motherhood: from unhappiness in her career to “medicating” through yoga and meditation to deciding to have a baby with her partner. • Using toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing as a way to numb the mental pain of our struggles in motherhood. • The importance of showing our children when we’re upset and struggling, as well as the recovery and success we experience. • Investment in self - however that looks - as a necessity. • and more! Then what ends up happening is later on that feeling will be processed as something else, whether it’s illness or it will come out as a different kind of emotion at a later date that is probably not appropriate or doesn’t make sense. • It’s important to show your kids struggle, recovery and success because then they learn that it’s okay to be disappointed, to not win, to not feel your best. That’s what creates healthy, emotional, secure children. • It’s important to remember too, for everyone, your kids will eventually leave you. So you need to invest in YOU all the time. It shows your kids that they also need to invest in them. Creating independent children that see independence and investment modeled from their parents become healthy emotionally attached children.
