    2025/06/25

Riddled with survivor’s guilt after his unit lost 17 men in Afghanistan, Marine Veteran Anthony Marquez made it his mission to connect with the Gold Star families in his unit by teaching himself how to do wood carvings. In the process of learning this artistic skill, Anthony found purpose and began to heal himself by helping to heal the 17 Gold Star Families that were affected by his deployment. He carved and hand-delivered 17 battlefield crosses for each of the families in remembrance of their fallen Marines. Anthony served in the Marine Corps from 2007 to 2012. He deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan in 2011 and served with 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. His new documentary, "Make Peace or Die" | Honor the Fallen, documents his journey of remembrance for those 17 fallen Marines and the Gold Star families.

  • Episode 297 | "Still F*cking Here" - a Story of Survival, Perseverance, and Resilience
    2025/06/20

We are joined by 2 best friends, Lance Price, a FMF Devil Doc and Tyler Southern, a US Marine Veteran and triple amputee. -Lance Price served honorably in the US Navy from 2000 to 2018. Lance completed 7 combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in Afghanistan. Lance held critical roles as a Senior Line Corpsman for special warfare units, and supported front-line Marines in some of the most challenging environments.Despite his professional success, Lance's career was marked by personal battles with PTSD and TBI, resulting from multiple combat incidents. After officially being diagnosed, he faced the hard reality of managing invisible wounds while continuing to serve and lead. Following his retirement in 2018, Lance navigated through some of his darkest moments, finding purpose and recovery through alternative therapies like medical cannabis and the Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) treatment, made possible by nonprofit organizations dedicated to veterans' healing.- Corporal Tyler Southern served with the United States Marine Corps, Weapons Company, 81s Platoon, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines. On May 5, 2010, during his second deployment to Musa Qala in the Naw Zad District of Afghanistan, Tyler survived a catastrophic IED blast that cost him both legs above the knees, his right arm above the elbow, and severely damaged his left arm and hand. Despite these life-altering injuries, Tyler became the first American triple amputee to survive combat injuries in Afghanistan. Today, Tyler is a sought after speaker who helps motivate and inspire other Veterans to overcome their wounds of war and live their life to the fullest no matter what, and reminds everyone that they are STILL F*CKING HERE!Brian Tally
