Taylor discusses the industry as a whole and how the Commission is doing their part for Georgia cotton growers. Georgia’s cotton industry is facing mounting challenges, including high production costs, aging infrastructure, and competition from cheaper synthetic fibers, prompting leaders to emphasize innovation and sustainability. Taylor highlights efforts like the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol and collaborations with brands to promote American-grown, sustainably produced cotton. Agronomic updates from Wade Parker focus on managing late-planted cotton, weed control, and pest threats, underscoring the need for timely scouting and adaptive crop management.
