  • 018 - The People You Meet and the Books You Read - The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews
    2022/04/17

Today we discuss a short but very impactful book, The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews.

The Butterfly Effect is based on a theory first proposed in 1963 which stated that a butterfly flapping its' wings could start a chain reaction with wind patterns that could impact the weather on the other side of the world.

Andy Andrews builds upon this concept by showing the impact of decisions made by various people throughout history, and how these decisions cumulatively had a profound impact on the world.

But it doesn't have to be a grand ending - the things that you do, however insignificant or unappreciated they may seem, really do matter, and what you do really can change the world.

  • 016 - The People You Meet and The Books You Read - Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill - Part 2
    2022/01/30

Continuing in our discussion of "Outwitting the Devil" by Napoleon Hill, with a foreword and commentary by Sharon L. Lechter, CPA and Mark Victor Hanse, we share two of the key concepts of the book - fear and being a drifter.

Outwitting the Devil was written by Napoleon Hill in 1938, but was not published until 2011. Napoleon Hill's family, especially his wife, did not want the book to be published for fear of the backlash from organized religion and education.

The book is an account of a conversation between Napoleon Hill and the devil, where Hill arranges to have the devil spill his most guarded secrets of how he entraps men and women.

    Enjoy!

  • 014 - The People You Meet and The Books You Read - A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
    2021/12/23

Today we discuss the classic Charles Dickens work "A Christmas Carol", which was written in 1843. We have an overview of the book from Wikipedia and some lessons from the book referenced by clientkudos.com.

Finally, we read an excerpt from the Stave One of the book, where Ebenezer Scrooge's mindset is displayed in a discussion with his nephew.

In addition to the lessons reviewed, one main concept, which is something I try to cite and to work on often, is mindset. Being wealthy and being rich are two different things, and having a growth or abundance mindset can overcome even the worst adversities imaginable.
