  • Pura Vida, the healing power of living a pure, simple, natural life
    2024/06/10

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat talks about how living life simply makes you healthier and happier. Kat has spent many months living in the popular 'Blue Zone' of Guanacaste in Costa Rica where people tend to live longer than the average person and adopt a 'Pura Vida' (the pure life) lifestyle.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by life, overstimulated, over worked or burnt out and then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode:

    • Kat shares a bit about the commonalities between blue zones around the world and how people live more simply, slowly and for longer
    • How in 1st world, westernised countries like the UK and the US we are over stressed through overdoing, overstimulation and bombarded by sensory visuals and information and it is stress that leads to disease.
    • How for a long while Kat removed all the extra stressors in her life that were overstimulating her brain including the news, TV and Netflix.
    • That creating space to just be with yourself and be present without any background distractions like TV or music will help you to find more peace.
    • How booking at least a week of no plans, no schedules, literally nothingness is incredibly healing for you. Slowing down is a key piece to healing the body and the mind.
    • That we don't need Netflix, TV, mobile phones and there was a time when none of these things existed and they have a negative effect on us. These dopamine rich stimulants detach you from yourself and lead to anxiety.
    • The closer to nature we are and what's natural, the healthier we feel and the more space we have to form connections to ourselves and others.
    • Try to spend more time with whatever nature you have available to you will help you to destress and lower cortisol levels.
    • How eating food close to source means it is more nutrient dense and will therefore help your body function better
    • How people living simply have more of an active lifestyle which contributes to good health.
    • That being in a community is so healing because we a re tribal beings and are not meant to live alone, for thousands of years we lived in tribes.

  • You're stuck victim mode when you could be in power mode
    2024/05/20

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat reveals how she has recently become aware that she'd slipped into victim mode and was blaming everything around her for her current situation without taking any responsibility . Kat shares how to free yourself from this disempowering place and hopes you will leave the episode feeling positive and powerful.

If you have been feeling like everything keeps going wrong for you, maybe you have a lot of bad luck or life never seems to go the way you want then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode:

    • Kat explains what being in victim mode means, how it feels and why she has fallen into this place again
    • Kat shares how she feels embarrassed, ashamed and not good enough on the current outcome of her business and love life.
    • That getting out of victim mode requires taking an honest look at yourself, taking responsibility for the fact you are where you are and not placing the blame outside of yourself.
    • It is up to you to change your mental and emotional state and seek help to shift your perspective and change your inner narrative, nobody can do that for you.
    • How life will likely give you a wake up call to snap you out of your self pity and things are happening for you and there is a reason for your situation making you feel worse.
    • That you can't control life around you but you can change how you feel on the inside by looking at your conditioning, removing negativity and regulating your body.
    • The universe only responds to energy so even if something really bad has happened to you and you feel justifiably sad, it will match that frequency. It's nothing personal.
    • The different ways you can move negative energy through you and out of your body including movement, meditation and journalling.
    • The concept of how everything in your external reality is a reflection of your internal beliefs.
    • That Kat had the insight that she has not done enough inner work to create the reality she desires which is why her business is not where she wants it to be and has not met her person.
    • What the observer effect is and a little about how quantum physics plays a role in creating the life you desire.
    • The importance of not bypassing your negative emotions, to make sure you feel, experience and release them and not pushing them down.
    • How you are much more powerful and stronger than you know and you can overcome your victim mindset.

    2024/05/06

Chris is also a trauma healer, a mental health advocate and author of the self-help book, It’s Good to See Me Again: How to Find Your Way When You Feel Lost—an illuminating guidebook on the journey to find emotional healing. If you struggle to have your emotional needs met in a relationship or identify that you display anxious or avoidant behaviour then this episode is for you. Key points covered in today's episode: Chris explains what attachment theory is and what the different attachment styles are including anxious, avoidant, disorganised and secure. That we tend to develop an insecure attachment style during childhood through trauma whether it's big or small and what trauma means.Chris shares what brought on his anxious attachment including the loss of his mother and the emotional distance between him and his father amongst other difficult personal traumas. That being disconnected from our care givers, physically and emotionally triggers our survival responses and causes trauma. How the different roles we play in childhood like for example 'the golden child' can deeply affect how we expect our needs to be met as adults. That you can develop insecure attachment styles in adult life through relationship traumas and sometimes over or under-compensate our behaviourWhy you need emotional and nervous system regulation in order to grow more and discover a secure attachment style and that your emotions live within your nervous system. The importance of taking accountability for your behaviour and not blaming or shaming yourself so that you can allow healing to take place. How self love is a key component for healing and that you have to love yourself into evolution, soften and open up more often than not.Every human will experience anxiety, fear, worry and doubt, what brings us into balance again and helps us heal is when we have the ability to hold those emotions and bounce back to a place of self love and trust. The most important piece of advice for finding an aligned romantic partner is to honour yourself and walk away from those who are not in alignment with your values. To remember you are NOT broken and you do NOT require fixing ❤️ End quote by James Clear Thank you for listening! 🙏 If this episode resonated with you or you know it will help someone else - please share it :) ❤️ Show your support and love for Kat by leaving a 5 star review on Spotify and by hitting the follow/subscribe button, this is how the show gets to grow bigger and better!
