  • S2, E1: Innovating a Shift in Sustainable Language with “Ecodeo” CEO, Liz Rubin
    2025/01/07

This week on “The Tie-In,” Zena and Mark talk about climate communications with the CEO of “Ecodeo” (@ecodeo), Liz Rubin, a true talent who is also one of our good friends! Listen in and learn about the reality of eco-products and more. The truth is, eco-corporations can become so focused on building that they forget to communicate. “Green hushing” is real, and it’s through organizations like “Ecodeo” that we bring the visibility that’s necessary to generate the right capital. If we can achieve this, those working in sustainability would feel less pressure. Help us amplify existing content that centers around or even features sustainability, and please share this podcast wherever you can.

  • Episode 25: Taking Climate to a more Sustainable Future with authors Steve Willis and Genevieve Hilton (Jan Lee)
    2024/12/03

This week on “The Tie-In,” Zena and Mark talk with authors Steve Willis and Genevieve Hilton (aka Jan Lee) about their latest novel promoting climate influence, “Fairhaven: A Novel of Climate Optimism.” This story centers around a girl born in Penang, Malaysia, who has seen the harmful effects of climate change firsthand. The authors have dedicated this book to those who are striving for a future that doesn’t suck, and there are many groups of people of varying walks of life that have supported the book. Many have even added it to their book clubs, and we hope you will too. There is great power generated when creative minds come together, and while sustainable batteries can help, the solution begins with us. We really appreciated this opportunity to discuss work with two such passionate individuals, and this reminds us that it isn’t all about that delicious TV and Film that we cherish. Books need love too! This is climate storytelling!

You may find the book here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CW1LP4L1 - and if you take a look, let us know what you think of the book. I’m sure there will be plenty to discuss for all climate influencers, and you can help support Steve and Genevieve on their future projects by leaving a great review of their revolutionary work online.

    2024/11/26

This week on “The Tie-In,” Zena and Mark talk about advertising training, tools, and resources with the Global Director of “Ad Green” (@weareadgreen), Jo Fenn. Their team is making people feel supported and empowered to talk about sustainable solutions to short-form productions. One cool thing with their approach is that it isn’t a series of quick fixes for one or two shoots. • Episode 23: Revolutionizing Sustainability in Music with Showpower CEO, Paul Schurink
    2024/11/19

This week on “The Tie-In,” Zena and Mark join the music revolution led by CEO of “Showpower,” Paul Schurink. That’s right, the sustainable source behind “Coldplay” is back, and he has even more insight on how he makes such huge shows battery efficient and safe. His team is knowledgeable, resourceful, and well-researched. They tackle each problem with a can do attitude, and this change in behavior is one we all should consider. There’s no one method of achieving sustainability or one particular size of live show that can be sustainable. Considering size and budget are important, and there are plenty of folks who will push back on big ideas. However, it’s all in the approach, and if we educate the public, they’ll discover how it isn’t more work or more expensive. It’s simply the future, and “Showpower” is lighting (and micing) the future.

Your next stop should be their website, because there is so much still to come from these proud tech nerds: https://www.showpower.com/our-story/

  • Episode 22: Solving Problems in a Collective Way with Production Manager, Hans Dayal
    2024/11/12

This week on “The Tie-In,” Zena and Mark are learning how to foster crew well-being with Production Manager, Hans Dayal! He’s worked on several Netflix properties, including “Virgin River,” and he’s here to tell you, there’s no master plan. He views productions as a great laboratory for experimenting with different sustainable practices. There’s no one way to do it, and innovative tech can always come out and change the game. It’s all about having the right mind set, like thinking about how much cable your crew members have to run in the dead of a snowy night, and strategizing about a more efficient, battery-powered, alternative. That’s one example of many situations where one can benefit from adopting Hans Dayal’s line of thinking, and we think his words on the future of production efficiency are beautiful.
