    2025/05/16

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

This week on the show, Ryan and Rob take a rhyming, rocking trip into one of the strangest TV specials of the 1990's Disney Channel’s Mother Goose Rock ‘n’ Rhyme!

It’s a longtime favorite for Rob, but a first-time watch for Ryan, who’s both dazzled and deeply confused by a cast that includes: Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, Katey Sagal, Little Richard, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Woody Harrelson, ZZ Top, Howie Mandel, Ben Vereen, Teri Garr, Bobby Brown, Cheech Marin, and more!

Part Pee-wee’s Playhouse, part Roger Rabbit, and 100% surreal, this cult favorite sees Gordon Goose (Dan Gilroy) and Little Bo Peep (Shelley Duvall) on a mission to find the missing Mother Goose (Jean Stapleton), leading them through a pastel dreamscape of musical mayhem and nursery rhyme nonsense.

Is it a kid’s special? A glam-rock fever dream? A secret cult horror musical??

Only one way to find out... join us for this wild ride through Rhyme Land!

"The film deals with the events surrounding Gordon Goose and Little Bo Peep, who, while still trying to find her sheep, goes to Mother Goose's house for help, only to discover her sudden absence. Bo Peep and Gordon search Rhymeland to flush out what has happened to Mother Goose, all the while watching as many Mother Goose characters begin to mysteriously disappear."

  • ThunderCats Review: 3:109 & 3:110 "The Circus Train" & "The Last Day" (1988)
    2025/05/09

    Welcome Back Bunglers! ⚡

It's time for more kitty cat fun with your Radical Retro Brothers! This week, we welcome a brand-new Bungler to the ThunderCats family and read a wonderful message that truly made our day. Listener Tim also asks a purr-fectly thought-provoking question: Why do we think ThunderCats has such a strong gay following?

Then it's on to the Season 3 finale two episodes! In the first episode, a bizarre traveling circus rolls into Third Earth, headlined by the mysterious Merna - allegedly "the most talented female mutant in the galaxy" - on her dramatic and highly suspicious farewell tour. Wilykat gets hypnotized and stows away with Captain Bragg, a bounty hunter! Later Kat winds up with full clown face paint. And yes, there are possibly animatronic polar bears involved - we don't make the rules.

In the second episode, the Ancient Spirits of Evil have finally had it with Mumm-Ra's HOA violations and give him a final ultimatum: defeat the ThunderCats and conquer Third Earth by sundown or be banished forever. As Mumm-Ra kicks his evil into overdrive, the ThunderCats must stop a chain reaction of devastating earthquakes that could tear the planet apart. Meanwhile, Snarf returns to the Book of Omens to face the fiery wrath of those mystical P.F. Chang-style dragons.

And while the world's falling apart? Lynx-O, Bengali, and Pumyra are still casually cruising in the Feliner like they're on a scenic road trip. Will the ThunderCats save the planet in time? Can Mumm-Ra finally get it together for once? And most importantly - will anyone help WilyKat get that clown paint off his face?

Today's double episode starts with "The Circus Train":

⚡"A bounty hunter known as Captain Bragg comes to Third Earth to help the ThunderCats get rid of the Mutants and the Lunataks. After a talk with Wilykat, Capt Bragg tricks the Thunderkitten into going with him."

    Then in "The Last Day":

"Impatient with Mumm-Ra failing them time and time again, the Ancient Spirits of Evil give him one final chance: destroy the ThunderCats within twenty-four hours, or face exile. To this end, he is granted extraordinary power, and grows to a gigantic size."

    ⚡Original Airdates: September 29, 1988 & September 30, 1988.

✨Thank you to the "ThunderCats Wiki" for the plot synopsis✨

  • Episode 156: "Spaceballs" (1987)
    2025/05/02

    Welcome Back Radical Ones! ⚡️

“May the Schwartz be with you!” This week Ryan, Rob, and Brother David are blasting into the absurd galaxy of Mel Brooks’ "Spaceballs" from 1987! Rob proudly claims it’s his favorite Star Wars movie (yes, you heard that right — and no, he’s not taking it back), so you know the Schwartz is strong with this one! We’re breaking down the iconic gags, the endlessly quotable lines, and why this movie still reigns supreme in the universe of parodies.

From Yogurt’s merchandising empire to Dark Helmet’s action figure obsession, nothing — and we mean nothing — is safe from our retro rewind! We also dare to dream: what could a Spaceballs 2 look like today?

And don’t fly off just yet — after the episode wraps, stick around for a special message from our movie geek, you won’t want to miss.

Fasten your seatbelts, Radical Ones — it’s time for ludicrous speed and even more ludicrous laughs.

Stars: Bill Pullman, John Candy, and Rick Moranis, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner, Lorene Yarnell, and the voice of Joan Rivers.
