My name is Rebecca LeMasters, I grew up in rural Ohio, and attended technical colleges in SE Ohio for radio and television communication. I have always had the PR bug especially for “The Underdog” type stories. Somehow the advocate in me took over and I entered into a Registered Nursing program. Which led me into working for local Public Health settings and managing a local Homeless Shelter and Domestic Violence Home for women and children. My medical side has never gone too far out of the picture and I also landed in the field of Memory care as the Lead Director of a Dementia Care Unit for residents age 50 and older. This is where I learned I needed to research what the link was / is between Addiction and Alzheimer Disease and TBI seemed to be a big part of that equation. I entered back into KSU at a smaller branch and I transitioned into working inside of an Ohio Treatment Center for Addiction. Which four years later has landed me where I am today working for DreamLife Recovery as Regional Outreach Manager of NE Ohio stretching down to Dayton, Columbus, St. Clairsville, Toledo and branching into bordering states when necessary. I love to travel and learn about different cultures and diversities here in the United States, and it’s a dream to do that all over the world. Until COVID is a thing of the past I’m just happy I’m happy for the outpouring of social media. It’s been a blessing in what I do, and for those trying to reach me for help. I love to host events, especially recovery based. We just put on a Softball tournament “Swing for Recovery, CO-ED teams came from all over Ohio and DreamLife Sponsored. Networking with community leaders is a great way to educate one another on how to better one another and stop the stigma surrounding Addiction and Mental Healthcare. In closing, I am married to someone in long term recovery and I feel it is one of the toughest things a couple can do when combining two different outlooks on Recovery. Thankfully I have had some strong Mentors in my life who have helped me progress in every way. We meet in the middle and keep out all of the unwanted noise and I am very proud to share my success story. Life is one day at a time , but having goals, meeting those goals and allowing people to see the struggle and success that can come with it is my definition of Living in Recovery and hopefully inspiring someone else to live here right beside me!
