  • 2025 Auburn Tigers preview with Andy Burcham
    2025/08/15
This week on The Phillip Jordan Show, I’m joined by the voice of the Auburn Tigers, Andy Burcham, for a deep dive into Auburn University athletics. We start with hoops and diamond talk—Auburn basketball’s thrilling run to their second Final Four and baseball making history by hosting their first-ever Super Regional. Then we turn to the gridiron. Andy shares what excites him about the 2025 football squad, including new quarterback Jackson Arnold, a loaded receiver room headlined by Cam Coleman, and the defensive presence of Keldric Faulk. We also preview the Tigers’ season opener on Friday night, August 29th, at Baylor. I kick off the show breaking down the quarterbacks in the preseason AP Top 10 and wrap things up by answering your social media questions.

  • 2025 Troy Trojans Preview with Josh Boutwell of the Troy Messenger
    2025/07/31
On today’s episode of The Phillip Jordan Show, I’m joined by Josh Boutwell, the managing editor and sports editor for The Troy Messenger, to dive deep into the state of Troy Trojans football as we head into the 2025 season.

We start by breaking down what went wrong for the Trojans in 2024 — a year that didn’t quite meet expectations — and how new leadership and returning talent could lead to a bounce-back year. One of the biggest storylines heading into this season is the return of quarterback Goose Crowder, who’s looking to rebound from injury and provide much-needed stability and playmaking at the position.

Josh also shares his insight into why the front seven on defense could be one of the best in the Sun Belt, and how that unit might set the tone for the Trojans all season long. We take a look at the full 2025 schedule, identifying key matchups, potential trap games, and what Troy needs to do to compete for a conference title.

But that’s not all — we also pivot to some spring football talk and dive into the future of the Birmingham Stallions. With relocation rumors swirling and the possibility of the team returning to Protective Stadium in 2026, Josh and I discuss what the franchise can do to reignite local fan interest and improve attendance in a competitive sports market.

Programming Note: Before the interview begins, I open the show with a quick message on the breaking news that Troy athletics director Brent Jones is leaving the university to take a new position at Georgia Tech. The interview with Josh was recorded prior to this announcement, so we didn’t have a chance to cover it during our conversation.

  • Birmingham Stallions and the USFL Conference on the move for the 2026 UFL season?
    2025/07/29
Zach Keilman of The UFL Podcast and Around the UFL joins Phillip Jordan to break down last week's major report that the entire USFL conference—Birmingham Stallions, Michigan Panthers, Memphis Showboats, and Houston Roughnecks—could be relocating for the 2026 season. Why would the league consider such a drastic move? What cities make sense as new homes? Zach dives into all the possibilities and potential impacts. Plus, Phillip and Zach discuss the ongoing debate around the UFL possibly dropping the USFL and XFL brands altogether—and whether the merger was the right move in the first place. It's a can’t-miss episode for spring football fans.
