  • 21: Catching Up on Executive Orders
    2025/07/28

The last week of July is here, and college sports is living in fast forward it seems. While we hurtle towards the start of college football, I spoke with some people in and around college sports and how they are processing all the changes going on.

Then we take a look at the president's executive order regarding the "saving of college sports" and break down the choice of language and what purpose drove the issuance of this document in the first place.

We then wrap up with a zany Featured Rules Item involving a coach recruiting directly from the sideline (allegedly), and we mean, a completely different college team's sideline.

  • 20: The CSC is the Anti-Tom Petty, and Coaches Hit Their Talking Points
    2025/07/25

    Send us a text

It wasn't that long ago that the new College Sports Commission was opposed to the idea of letting school collectives run NIL right to the players, but after a sternly worded letter, they've backed down. Does this bring us right back to square one with the NIL Era?

Also, coaches are bringing tough talks to their media days, but not against the teams on their schedules, but rather against other conferences that they will be competing against for at-large spots in the CFP. It has given us a number of eyebrow raising quotes from coaches and some confusing theories from one power conference commissioner.

Announcement: We are changing our show schedule, details at the start of the episode.

  • 19: College QB Categories
    2025/07/23

We're talking college QBs for 2025. But how should we rank them? We shouldn't! It's hard to know how things will turn out for these teams, especially given all the movement of players (and coaches!). Instead we talk about the different categories they fit into for the coming season. From prototype throwers were dozens of starts under their belts to first year starters with high expectations, the prime position for this coming season will be fascinating.

We also talk about Memphis taking their shot, and the Big Ten commish going to bat for Michigan with their NCAA troubles.

Mother Nature always reminds us she is not to be messed with. Had some travel difficulties which prevented the planned recording. So our Monday episode this week is up late and is a shortened version. We hit a couple of topics we discussed previously with some updates to start the week off; Oklahoma's AD search had my pick for their top candidate responds to the rumors, and FCS football schools looking to break into FBS and non-D1 basketball schools looking to join D1 are having different experiences in the move.

  • 17: Sound the Show-Cause Alarm
    2025/07/18

    Send us a text

On today's show, we have a major academic rules violation in college sports. So the entire episode will center around the Featured Rules Item. Recorded earlier in the week, we dive into what the violation was at the University of Memphis, and we also debut our show-cause alarm sound effect! I know, contain your excitement. This case is pretty open/shut, you won't be railing against the NCAA for this one, but beyond the violation, we examine the circumstances surrounding the vital and perhaps not often thought-about position of academic advisors in Division I athletic departments.

  • 16: Talking About College Football Talk

Everybody's Talks, only do we hear what they are saying. Congress is talking amongst themselves about the SCORE Act, SEC Media Days are for talking about how it just means more, and we want to talk about some teams that are not getting a lot of talk in the preseason, but we think may surprise us in 2025.

Source for a lot of the SCORE ACT info from Jesse Dougherty.

Lawyer up, pal, because in this episode we are going to pay tribute to our one true king, billable hours. There are lawyers, and then there are lawyers that consistently whoop the NCAA in the courtroom. Those lawyers are compensated quite well for those efforts, they also are not happy with some of the efforts of the new College Sports Commission to prevent collectives from paying athletes for doing work for their group. They would prefer "valid" business practices, but we are (slightly) calling BS on them. Let's take a look at how this issue could twist the attempts to live in the House Era into a pretzel.

Here is the post from Dalton Forsythe.

  • 14: Is the ACC the Polar Bear on the Ice?
    2025/07/11

    Send us a text

Has the ACC laid the seeds of its own destruction? Their settlement to the Clemson and Fl St lawsuit may have done so, we dive a little deeper into what it could mean. Also, our Top 5/Bottom 5 for the week, and some veterans at the NCAA are leaving the organization. We'll also take a look at what could be an actual bill in Congress to stabilize college sports, but for whom?
