In this third and final episode of The Kambala Voice about Futurism, Principal, Jane Danvers shares the conversation with three current Year 11 students: Laura Janes; Elsie Paton and Kate Wu, as they reflect on their immersive co-curricular engagement with the discipline of Future Problem Solving. The conversation is framed by and shared with gifted and talented educator April Michele, who is the Executive Director of FPS International (USA) and Australian engineering scientist Dr Dylan Sherman, who recently completed his Phd in Nanotechnology at the University of Oxford, where he is also a stipendiary lecturer.

In this latest edition of The Kambala Voice, you’ll join Principal, Jane Danvers, in conversation with Doctor Kristin Alford, a leading Australian futurist. Kristin is the inaugural director of MOD - the Museum of Discovery, located within the University of South Australia. MOD is a future-focused entity, provoking new ideas at the intersection of Science, Art and Innovation. Annual exhibitions at MOD are specifically designed for an audience of 15-to-25 year olds, because they are the people who will shape the future for all of us.

The IB Diploma: What makes the IB pathway to matriculation, distinctive and rewarding?

The IB pathway incorporates Epistemology - the science of knowing. This is achieved through a unique subject offering known as TOK, or Theory of Knowledge. Additionally, the requirement to engage in a program of Creativity, Activity and Service which we call CAS, results in our students giving back, even before they have completed a wonderful Kambala education. Often we see a synthesis of student learning in the Extended Essay, a pre-tertiary research project that allows IB candidates to direct their own learning.

IB Humanities: Global Politics, Psychology and Economics
