あらすじ・解説
Substance abuse is a complex problem that impacts the person with the disorder as well as those close to them. It is painful to watch a person you love deal with addiction knowing that the best you can do for them can’t save them. Yes, you can be there to offer support but ultimately, recovery is a process that only they can take and commit to.
It is important to remember that, you can’t pour from an empty cup. You need to take care of yourself by being present, being in the moment, and having gratitude for each today. Do things that bring you joy and laughter because you deserve to also experience life to its fullest.
Today, I’ll share with you some lessons I learnt from the book, “Beyond Addiction: How Science and Kindness Help People Change.” I will also share some of my recent personal experiences with my son who has a substance abuse disorder. Additionally, you’ll hear about the importance of self-care even as you go through challenging times.
