  • Episode 412 - Exploring Trails, Community, and Adventure with Jamie Reeves
    2024/12/23

This week, we’re diving into the life and miles of Jamie Reeves, a passionate trail runner, orchardist, and all-around inspiring individual from Bunbury, Western Australia. Jamie’s journey from playing football to embracing the rugged world of ultramarathons is nothing short of incredible. He’s a firm believer in the power of running to build community, overcome personal challenges, and, of course, enjoy a post-run beer.

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

    • Jamie’s childhood on a stud farm and how sports became a family tradition.

    • His transition from football injuries to discovering a love for running.

    • Memorable milestones, like his first ultramarathon and his adventures with the Six Inch Trail Marathon.

    • The joy of Parkrun (https://www.parkrun.com.au/) and how it’s become a family affair for Jamie and his 6-year-old daughter, a Parkrun prodigy with 50 runs under her belt!

    • Training for the daunting Delirious W.E.S.T. 200-miler (https://deliriouswest200miler.com.au/) and the role of community and coaching in his preparation.

    Jamie’s Top Running Tips:

    • Start small and build up – running is a journey, not a race.

    • Embrace the social side of running – it’s as much about the people as the miles.

    • Use fun incentives (like beer!) to keep things light and enjoyable.

    Key Takeaways

Jamie’s story reminds us that running isn’t just about fitness; it’s about connection, resilience, and the unexpected adventures along the way. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just getting started, you’ll love hearing Jamie’s humorous and heartfelt approach to running and life.
