  • The Unmerciful Servant - Part 1 (Matthew 18:21-35)
    2025/02/04

This sermon is part of the Matthew series, but is included here as a companion message in the series on Biblical Reconciliation. This passage is often taught as a stand-alone text and therefore misinterpreted and misapplied.

Peter asks Jesus a valid question:

What if my brother continues to sin repetitively against me after confessing and repenting of the original sin? How many times should I forgive him?

    Important points to remember:

    1. Jesus is not talking about civil or criminal offenses:
    2. He is referring specifically to Christians who, having been biblically confronted, have already confessed and repented of their sin(s).
    3. He is referring to Christians who keep committing the same sin, but keep responding biblically to their repeated failure.

If a fellow believer has sinned against you, you have an obligation as a citizen of God’s kingdom, to follow the biblical steps of reconciliation - Matthew 18:15-17. If your brother or sister confesses and repents of their sin, you are obligated by God to forgive and restore that person.

May God bless you through this message!

  • Steps to Biblical Reconciliation - Part 2 (Luke 17:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:15-21)
    2025/01/30

We all sin and hurt one another unintentionally or otherwise. The thing that should differentiate us as believers is the way we handle our own sin and the sin of others. Biblically, these things should be dealt with in love. But often we find all kinds of excuses for not dealing with the problem directing and in a biblical manner.

In this message, Pastor Bob explains the obstacles to reconciliation, biblical motivation for reconciliation and offers practical steps to reconciling. Click for his Sermon notes and Outline.

  • Just Tell Me What to Do! Part 2 ( 2 Samuel 18:1-4)
    2025/01/23

We can learn a lot from some of the darkest days of David’s life. And life, much less ministry, certainly can throw some serious pain our way. And it’s captured for us in 2 Samuel 18:4 when King David says to his military leaders, “I will do whatever seems best to you.”

If you know David’s history, personality and total dependence upon the Lord, then you immediately recognize with me the incongruence of this statement with the rest of his life. May God use this message to inspire you to continue to draw close to Him. (2005)

  • How to Maintain Your Spiritual Fervor - Part 2 (Romans 12:11)
    2025/01/16

Do you ever feel like you've run out of spiritual gas as a leader? In this message, Pastor Bob talks about how we can keep our spiritual tank full, our leadership focused and our love for Jesus red hot!

"Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord."

Lacking = Okneros = Hesitation through weariness, sloth, anxiety, negligence. If denotes a person who for various reasons or difficulties does not have the resolution to act.

Zeal = Spoude = "Speed", i.e. (by implication) eagerness, diligence, haste.

Fervor = Zeo = "To be hot (boil, of liquids; or glow, of solids)”

Serving = Doulos = "To be a voluntary slave to someone else”

    (2008)

  • Rebuilding God's People - Part 2 (Nehemiah 7:1-73)
    2025/01/09

The first six chapters of Nehemiah describe the re-building of Jerusalem’s wall, which dealt with the first two levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy. But now that the wall is in place, God directs Nehemiah to take steps to rebuild His people -- the social structure and the spiritual fabric of Jerusalem. (2004)
