Concluding this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am Joined by Micah Belliou CEO of Fluency corp. We explor her story growing up in Oklahoma, and navivating the education system before the year 2000. Aftwr aving graduted from the University Boston in Massachusetts she guides us in her journey to move abord to mexico and begin teaching Spanish fully imersing herself in the culture and life and overcoming the challanges that come with the languages and communication. Eventually returning to the US and seeing an opportunity to expand on her love of languages, she embarks on the first step in creating Fluency corp, bringin accessible and effective language learning skills to business clients at an enterpise level and further expanding to child education and personal use.

In this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am joined by my first ESL teacher and one of the educators that inspired me to create this podcast. Born at the end of WW2, growing up in California and Arizona join us as we go through his life being raised in fallon nevada, by a teacher and Sign maker. We explore his life as the only white student in a all black school in north vegas in the 50s, university of Nevada reno in the 60s and his 2 years voluntary service in vietnam. We touch on his late entrance into education and his views on the changes that affected not only me as his student but all of his students life throug the often difficult assimilation via ESL.

In this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am joined by one of my own teachers and one of the educators that inspired me to create this podcast. From her early life as a teacher in Colombia to becoming an educator in the United States. We explore her experiences as a Fulbright scholar in the early 90s and how she came to be a professor at the University of Nevada Reno, Fernley Nevada and ultimately ,Hugg highschool in Reno. We remanic on Spanish club, her experiences with her students, the challenges of being an educator for ESL and Spanish lacking resources, and the administration battles she fought for her students. As well as her guidance and mentoring she provided to many of my fellow classmates and international students.

In this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am joined once again by Haaj a special needs teacher from New York City. We explore here experience as an educator in the changing field of special needs. Focusing more on her job, she gives us some insight on challenges, and advancement in her field of specialty. What inspired her to become a special needs teacher and her role in in such an involved field of teaching profession. Along with learning a little more about her life outside of the class room we delv into her impact on her students, her, thoughts on the education system in the current administration and the importance of unity with other professionals in the educational field.

In this mini series on teachers appreciation week for 2025 I am joined by a fellow Service member, now an educator in the state of Illinois. After 4 years of military service and becoming a public servant he was able to accomplish his goal of becoming a teacher in 2020. Now having taught for 4 years we explore his experience in seeing his first class graduate, his challenges along the way in becoming educator. Facing some Adversity and life changing decisions during his early adult years we discuss his deciaon to join the military, the course changing interaction with a military educators along with his professional and personal achievments as a teacher juggleing life and a career that requires alot of involment.     What happens after your are deported? Who gains moniteeraly and benefits from overreaching laws, punishment and violations of your constitutional rights? And after being forcibly being removed from the united states how do you start all over again, in your country of brith that you have never lived in? In this episodes, i am joined by an individual who has exerienced these violations of his rights, and revocation of his legal status due to the laws, inacted int the state of California. Through his experience with their judicial system, incaceration, and being volunterally forced, into the California inmate fire fighter crew he recounts his experience with ICE air in 2014. After arriving in Mexico working in the outsource world of call center services, he rediscovers his passion for art, and its power to be a driving force for messages of change. From painting small cultural pieces to murals on the US/México border, we explore his journey as not only a deported individual but as an artist and activist... en mi comunidad.
