Aloha!! We have another episode in the Creative Identity Series!! Let's talk about finding your creative self and then using inspiration to help guide you on the way. Here are some themes and questions to ask yourself and to take away from the conversation. You can stay connected to your creative voice by digging in and finding out who you are. Who you are as a person shows up in your scraproom just like it does in your day to day life. Know Yourself and stay true all the time!! Inspiration gives you joy, energy, ideas and fills your cup. Comparison can create doubt, self judgement or creative fatigue. When you know you are creatively it helps you move past all the comparision so you can let inspiration and others work guide you. You take what you need and let the rest go. Create a style audit: what colors, techniques and elements feel most you, make you desire to come back to your scrap/craft space.? Be intentional with inspiration-use only the things that inspire you or use only the style elements that woo you. Make note of what you love to create for yourself, what gives you the butterflies. I make the comparision of finding your identity in your crafting to falling in love. You have to date your crafting, keep the things that stay with you and let go of the things that don't. Reflect on the projects that feel authentic or fun. When you are in a creative funk remember to limit your outisde inspiration. Focus on one thing or limit the amount of time/projects you save to use. Use your creations for inspiration more than others too. Remember everyone is different and unique, find others that resonates with you and use other styles and other crafters to help you grow. Your challenge is to find two projects you made: One you love and one you didn't or it had things you wish you could change. Pick one element from each of those projects and create a new project!!
