“Wait a minute… Who am I here?” THE STEPFATHER tells the story of a madman in search of the perfect all-American family. When they disappoint him, he brutally murders them and moves on to the next. Terry O’Quinn gives a fantastic performance in the titular role and, as always, it’s a pleasure to see Jill Schoelen, this time playing the role of a troubled teenager, who suspects something simply isn’t right the moment her new stepfather enters the family home.

Last week was an in-your-face rip-off of CARRIE. This week, it’s an in-your-face rip-off of ROSEMARY’S BABY. WITCHCRAFT, the 1988 quickie that spawned a whopping 15 sequels (!), tells the story of a new mother, who moves into a creepy old estate owned by her husband’s family. Soon after settling in with their newborn son, our heroin begins to notice something doesn’t seem right—not with her in-laws, not with their mute butler, and not with the centuries-old place they call home. Is she simply paranoid, or are there truly dark forces at play? I think the answer is pretty damn obvious.

JENNIFER is not only one of the first CARRIE rip-offs, but it’s one of the most obvious. The story follows a high school outcast, who is bullied mercilessly by the popular crowd. When Jennifer is pushed too far, she unleashes her supernatural powers to exact vengeance. Unlike Stephen King’s Carrie, Jennifer possesses the power to control snakes, which she uses to slither after those who’ve wronged her. It’s actually a lot better than it sounds.

This week, it’s Charles Band’s 1989 PUPPET MASTER, the dawn of a franchise that helped build Full Moon Features. With this being the first entry, our batch of antiheroes is relatively small, but they’re still devious, murderous, and resourceful as hell. Join us as we watch them dispatch of a group of questionable characters spending the night at an oceanside hotel. The William Hickey cameo alone makes this one worthwhile.

What would you do if there was a vampire living next door to you…and he knows you know his secret? I may have inadvertently stolen that, or at least part of it, from the trailer. Nevertheless, that’s the plot of FRIGHT NIGHT, probably the best vampire flick of the 1980s. Join us while we sink our teeth into this immortal cult classic!

This movie has always been very educational for me. It taught me what can happen when you decide to throw a Halloween party at a funeral home, which was once the scene of a pretty horrific mass murder; why you shouldn’t hold seances on cursed property; and, last and most importantly, that you can hide a tube of lipstick just about anywhere.

We’re elated to finally feature Stuart Gordon’s RE-ANIMATOR on The Blind Rage Podcast!

This cult classic tells the story of Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), a medical student who has developed a serum that re-animates corpses. But, as we all know, no one is ever the same once they’re brought back from the dead.

Murphy’s Law hit hard on The Blind Rage Podcast because, yes, everything that could’ve gone wrong pretty much did.

First and foremost, the subject of the episode, Matthew Bright’s FREEWAY II: CONFESSIONS OF A TRICKBABY, is not only an incredibly inferior follow-up to his 1996 cult classic, it’s a hell of a lot worse than I remember it being.

In addition, technical difficulties prevented the recording from beginning on time, which made matters quite stressful, especially since we had a small window to get the episode in the can. As we’re struggling to make it through this utter mess of a film, neighbors started loudly fighting, some of which was unavoidably recorded.

There are often many challenges when it comes to completing episodes, which makes it hard for me to chuck them. So, FREEWAY II is presented for your listening pleasure, warts and all.
