This week, the mini-mini series The Horror Trilogy is wrapped up! We look at the Terminator franchise for our latest "Comics Go Hollywood" entry. Yes, another Arnold Schwarzenegger appearance! We look at two comics that were released in the tiny period before a second Terminator movie was even conceived of. We discuss what themes and ideas the franchise utilize and how the comics represent them. We also discuss NOW Comics' short publishing life, Dark Horse's publishing output in the 90s, early Alex Ross art, "big-noting", and Rowan and Joe finally go head to head, each batting for a different comic!
The comics we will be looking at today include:
Terminator: The Burning Earth #1-5 (1990) (NOW Comics) - Written by Ron Fortier, Illustrated by Alex Ross, Lettered by Joseph Allen and Patrick Williams
Terminator: Tempest #1-4 (1991) - Written by John Arcudi, Illustrated by Chris Warner, Inked by Paul Guinan, Coloured by Chris Chalenor and Rachelle Menashe, Lettered by Karen Casey-Smith
You can buy these comics at most good comic stores or ask your local bookstore to try and order them. Alternatively, you can read these comics digitally on the Comixology app via Amazon.
