  • Pep on De Bruyne | Gunners misfire at Goodison | Ange under Pressure
    2025/04/06
Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action.

We begin by looking at both Manchester sides; Darren believes it has to be a big summer for United, who must compete against the likes of rising teams Newcastle, Chelsea and Villa (as well as Arsenal, Liverpool and City). Gary believes United will be challenging for the top four next season.

Also, Ben Ransom sits down with Pep Guardiola to talk about Kevin De Bruyne announcing his City departure, what Pep has learnt in this tough campaign, and whether he would have been sacked if it wasn’t for his prior success.

Next to Arsenal, who after their eleventh draw of the season at Goodison, are very much Madrid or bust in the Champions League. Gary attributes the Gunners’ league downfall to injuries and lack of a striker, but believes, after a recent trip to London Colney, that Mikel Arteta knows he has his striker of choice in summer.

And finally, pressure on Ange Postecoglou, with boos on the touchline and a challenging week with the media. Gary names Tottenham v Southampton ‘the depressed derby’ but the Europa League may be the saving grace.

  • Liverpool Six Wins From Title | Mourinho Interview | Race for Top Four
    2025/03/09
Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action.

We begin with Liverpool’s win over Southampton, putting Arne Slot’s side six wins away from securing the title, but Darren believes Darwin Nunez was a little lucky to have not been given a red card.

Next, Gary sits down with Jose Mourinho to discuss his alleged ‘racist statements’ made after drawing with Galatasaray. Darren argues Jose thinks about the language he uses, that analogies are still allowed, and Gary shows us a present he was given by Jose!

Elsewhere, the race for the top four; Gary believes after Nottingham Forest’s win over Manchester City yesterday, they’ve cemented their place in the top four. We look at some good dancing in the Forest changing room and analyse why Nuno’s side are so effective this season.

Finally, Pat Davidson meets Mikel Arteta, and talks expectations this season after finishing second twice, a switch in tactics from fluid attacking to control, and how to take the next step. And Juliette Ferrington sits down with Ruben Amorim to discuss a tough start at Manchester United.

  • Arsenal wave white flag | United comeback at Goodison | Slot Exclusive
    2025/02/23
Rob Jones is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and the Daily Telegraph’s Sam Dean to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action.

We start by talking about Arsenal, and Sam believes the fans have lost hope in their title bid, and that Merino as a false nine was unsustainable. Darren argues that the defining moment in Arsenal’s season was a failure to sign a striker in the January window.

Next to Manchester United, after their 2-2 draw at Goodison; Sam suggests Everton should have had a penalty in the final moments, as the referee wasn’t shown the most incriminating angles and the incident wasn’t ‘clear and obvious’ to be overruled.

Meanwhile, United’s rivals Liverpool look for their twentieth league title and Jamie Redknapp sits down with Arne Slot to talk about the challenge of competing in both the Premier League and Champions League, and the surprise of City's fall.

And finally, Sam criticises Chelsea’s model, and after a third loss in four Premier league games yesterday at Villa Park, Darren questions the level of Chelsea’s two available goalkeepers.

Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmore to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action.

We begin by looking at Liverpool, who went nine points clear at the top of the table, after a 2-0 win at Bournemouth; Darren praises Mo Salah again, and thinks the club will secure a new contract with him.

  • Old Trafford super stadium | Michael Oliver controversy | City win with debutants
    2025/01/26
Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports News reporter Melissa Reddy to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action.

We begin by looking at Manchester United, and news of government backing for an Old Trafford regeneration project; Darren explains plans for a 100,000 seater super stadium.

Next to the title race. Arsenal were victorious at Wolves but Michael Oliver made himself the star of the show, after giving Myles Lewis-Skelly a controversial red card in the first half. Melissa believes it should have been a yellow card, and sees Arteta’s furious reaction as a buildup of bad decisions against Arsenal this season. Meanwhile, Melissa is impressed that Liverpool continue their relentless winning ways, and believes they’ll be hard to catch, despite a new manager and three of their biggest players out of contract in the summer.

Finally, we look at Manchester City, who are back in a winning groove after beating Chelsea 3-1. Darren looks at Khusanov and Marmoush’s contrasting debuts, arguing that players need time to settle.
