  • How War on Terror Veterans Are Shaping U.S. Defense Policy with Jeffrey Lantis
    2024/09/07
In this episode of Strategic Wisdom with Andrew Jose, we examine how veterans of the War on Terror are continuing to impact U.S. defense policy, even after leaving the battlefield. As a record number of these veterans enter Congress, they are influencing key areas like national security, veterans' healthcare, and foreign policy.

Host Andrew Jose speaks with Jeffrey Lantis, author of Staying in the Fight: How War on Terror Veterans in Congress Are Shaping US Defense Policy. Lantis, a professor of political science at The College of Wooster, explores the shared experiences and socialization of these veterans, which drive policy convergence despite political differences.

Listen in as they discuss the motivations behind Lantis’ latest book, the model he creates to explain veterans' influence on defense policy, and the idea that shared experiences like military service could help bridge political polarization

  • Mass Migration, Balkanization, And The Death Of America with Joseph Ford Cotto
    2024/08/30
As more and more migrants immigrate to the United States and immigrants—particularly those lacking a Judeo-Christian background—sire their own children, the emergence of parallel societies has increasingly become a significant concern in the United States as the country's history and identity come under attack from revisionists within.

In cities like Dearborn and Hamtramck, Michigan, unassimilated immigrant communities have reshaped local culture and politics, raising questions about America's identity and unity.

Are we headed toward a divided America, split along cultural and ethnic lines?

In this episode of Strategic Wisdom, Andrew Jose speaks with Joseph Ford Cotto, author of What Happened to America?: How—and Why—the American Dream Became a Nightmare.

Together, they discuss the rise of parallel societies in the U.S., the challenges of assimilation, and what this trend means for national security. They also explore whether America can find common ground or if cultural divides will continue to grow.

  • Nuclear Weapons And International Law with Charles J Moxley Jr
    2024/08/23
As global tensions rise, particularly with nuclear-armed states like Russia and China, the threat of nuclear conflict looms large. But what does U.S. law say about the use of nuclear weapons? How does international humanitarian law view these devastating weapons?

To answer these pressing questions, Andrew Jose sits down with Professor Charles Moxley of the Fordham School of Law. A seasoned litigator and expert in nuclear weapons law, Professor Moxley is the author of the influential work, Nuclear Weapons and International Law: Existential Risks of Nuclear War and Deterrence through a Legal Lens Volumes I-II.

He brings decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge to this critical discussion, exploring the legal, ethical, and humanitarian implications of nuclear weapons.

Listen in as Jose and Moxley tackle key questions: Are nuclear weapons inherently unlawful? What are the limitations of current non-proliferation efforts, and what might a future global treaty banning nuclear weapons look like?

  • The Abraham Accords After October 7 with Aryeh Lightstone
    2024/08/16
One of Hamas’ stated objectives, when the Palestinian militant outfit launched the October 7, 2023, attacks against southern Israel, was to derail the Abraham Accords normalization process between Israel and Arabs.

Has Hamas succeeded in the objective, as Israel’s war with the militant group entered its tenth month earlier this month?

What challenges has Israel’s “Operation Swords of Iron” brought to the Abraham Accords?

How has the Biden-Harris administration undermined and neglected the Accords, and what must a future Republican administration and Israel do to fix any damage the normalization process suffered due to the Palestinian attack on October 7?

To answer these questions, Andrew Jose, host of Strategic Wisdom with Andrew Jose and the Andrew Jose Show, sat down with Aryeh Lightstone, former U.S. Special Envoy for Economic Normalization and one of the architects of the Abraham Accords. Aryeh is the author of the book Let My People Know: The Incredible Story of Middle East Peace―and What Lies Ahead.

  • Neo-Tsymburskian Cycles In Russia's Relations With The West with Gordon Hahn
    2024/08/09
Can Russia's relations with the Western world be structured in cycles?

20th-century Russian philologist Vadim Tsymbursky thought so when he came up with what would be known as Tsymburskian cycles—a set of five moves ranging from alliance to confrontation and resistance against the West.

However, Tsymburksy did not take into account the domestic politics factor in his original theorization of the cycles—a gap that Gordon Hahn fills in his essay for Russia In Global Affairs titled "Neo-Tsymburskian Cycles in the History of Russian-Western Relations."

Gordon Hahn is an expert analyst at Corr Analytics ,a New-York-based political risk advisory firm. Hahn is a notable scholar of politics, international relations, and Islamist terrorism in Russia and Eurasia. He is the author of The Russian Dilemma: Security, Vigilance, and Relations with the West from Ivan III to Putin, and Ukraine Over the Edge: Russia, the West, and the “New Cold War.” Hahn’s most recent book is 'Russian Tselostnost’: Wholeness in Russian Culture, Thought, History, and Politics.

Gordon has previously taught at Boston University, American University, and Stanford University. He also served as a visiting fellow at the Kennan Institute in Washington, DC, and the Hoover Institution.

In this episode of Strategic Wisdom with Andrew Jose, I sat down with Hahn to discuss his neo-Tsymburksian cycles and how they can explain Russia's current predicament in Ukraine and the future of Russia's relations with the occident.

During our conversation, we discussed ontological security, the origins of Western and Russian discontent with relations between each other, and how the West can have more stable respect-based ties with Moscow.

  • The Uyghur Freedom Struggle Against Chinese Domination with Salih Hudayar
    2024/08/02
Join me for an eye-opening discussion with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and National Security of the East Turkistan Government in Exile, Salih Hudayar, a Uyghur activist and leader of the East Turkistan National Movement.Tune into this eye-opening interview to:
    • Discover the story of East Turkistan and the Uyghur nation's fight for independence against China.
    • Dive deep into the historical roots of the Uyghur ethnocide carried out by the Chinese state against Turkic ethnics in the area it calls "Xinjiang."
    • Understand how the East Turkistan Government in Exile differs from the World Uyghur Congress’s approach to the ethnocide of Uyghurs and other Turkic people in East Turkistan (“Xinjiang”).
    • Comprehend how Chinese, specifically Han-ethnic-supremacy, not Communism alone, is the driving factor behind the Chinese attacks on Uyghur and other Turkic peoples in East Turkistan—something evident in the passive and active racist approach many ethnic Chinese anti-CCP and pro-democracy activists have towards Uyghurs and Turkic peoples hailing from occupied East Turkistan.
Lastly, learn more about the government-in-exile's vision for a democratic future.

  • Russia-North Korea Treaty And The Coming Global Nuclear Crisis with Peter Kuznick
    2024/07/26
In the middle of June 2024, Russia signed a comprehensive mutual partnership agreement with North Korea.

As Russia's relations with the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea grow in light of Moscow's isolation from the Western-centric world, how will the global nuclear non-proliferation regime be affected?

For this episode, I sat down with Professor Peter Kuznick, the Director of the Nuclear Studies Institute at American University. Dr. Kuznick and I discussed the implications of Russia's new alliance with North Korea, the escalating NATO-Russia tensions over Ukraine, and the potential for a nuclear showdown.

We also discussed the Taiwan Strait crisis and how Washington's policies in the South China Sea could turn Taiwan into another Ukraine as China feels its claims on the island are undermined. The professor and I also explored why the current nuclear non-proliferation regime in the world has failed.

Kuznick ends by providing the next generation of leaders with his advice for how they should run the world they will inherit from their predecessors when they come to positions of power and influence.

  • Understanding The Biden Illegal Immigration Crisis with Todd Bensman
    2024/07/19
Under President Joe Biden, the southern border has seen an unprecedented surge in unauthorized entries. In his first year alone, the U.S. Border Patrol encountered over 1.6 million migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border—more than four times the previous year's figures and the highest annual total ever recorded.

This immigration catastrophe has sparked fierce debate, with Democrats downplaying the threat and Republicans, particularly those on the fringes, overplaying it. But beyond the staggering numbers, the U.S. faces severe risks from these enormous waves of illegal migrants, including transnational criminals, potential terrorists, and immense strain on resources.

To understand the origins and consequences of Biden's disastrous border policy, I sat down with Todd Bensman, Senior National Security Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies.

This is Strategic Wisdom with Andrew Jose. I’m Andrew Jose, a Washington, DC-based security policy analyst and news reporter, bringing you timely analyses and commentary on issues in international relations, war, and security policy.
