  • It's Time for Broderick Jones to Shine | Steelers Morning Rush
    2025/01/10
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today's it's the matchup between right tackle Broderick Jones and Baltimore Ravens left outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy. After a shaky start, Jones has been playing outstanding football down the stretch in 2024. According to PFF, he has given up just three sacks since Week 9. The bad news? All three of them came against the Baltimore Ravens. Jones gave up one sacks against Baltimore in Week 11 and two in Week 16. If he can go out and throw down a clean game against Van Noy, that would provide a lot better pass protection that Russell Wilson has been getting as of late, which could jump-start the veteran quarterback after a few tough games. It should also give the team a lot more confidence about going into 2025 with Jones as a starting tackle after a slow start to 2024. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

    2025/01/09
Alan Saunders and Zachary Smith discuss all things Pittsburgh Steelers. On today's episode, we discuss status updates for Cam Heyward, Chris Boswell, MyCole Pruitt, Donte Jackson and Mason McCormick. Could we see Spencer Anderson step in for the injured McCormick? The team surprisingly moved on from Scotty Miller to likely get Calvin Anderson back in the mix as an added OL. We discuss why we haven't seen Roman Wilson, how important this game is for the future of Russell Wilson and if we need to see more of the 3 OLB look this week. • One Change Could Benefit Steelers Defense | Steelers Morning Rush
    2025/01/09
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today's it's how the Steelers defense might be able to better match up against the Baltimore Ravens with Zay Flowers looking likely to be out of the starting lineup. Flower is Baltimore's best and shiftiest wide receiver, and the toughest player for the Steelers to match up with in zone coverage. After their communication problems that greatly hindered their efforts last time around, the Steelers could just play a simpler defense with less communication required, focusing on man-to-man coverage. Usually, it's hard to play against Lamar Jackson in man coverage, because he can beat you with his legs, but Patrick Queen has shown the ability to take that away as a spy. The rest of the Ravens receivers don't look like tough 1 on 1 matchup for the Steelers defense, so it could be a ploy Pittsburgh uses to gain a leg up on Saturday. Alan breaks it down. • Who Has the Edge in Steelers-Ravens Round 3? | Steelers Morning Rush
    2025/01/08
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's how the Steelers have fared under Mike Tomlin when facing a team the third time in a season. Tomlin is 3-2 in those games, and after sweeping the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, he's split with each of the four teams the Steelers have earned a third game against, and gone 2-2 in those games. That might make Saturday's game in Baltimore seem likely a coin flip, but even though the Black and Gold won the game in Pittsburgh in Week 11, they're big underdogs this week.
