このコンテンツについて

On Somewhere on the Screen is a film and television podcast hosted by three friends and artsy people -- Nicholas Westemeyer, Joseph Reese, and Christopher Moss. Each cycle, we'll choose an upcoming film or TV show to cover and choose three pieces to examine leading up to which we think will be vital to understanding the film. Then, we'll finish the cycle by talking about the big release in resplendent glory and see just how far off we were with our predictions of what would be important and more importantly, what we thought of the thing!

Above all else, we're here to have fun and enjoy talking about things we love with people we love. Come and join us as we keep our mind in the clouds and our eyes Somewhere on the Screen!

It's finally here! Superman has been released in theaters, we've studied, prepared, and watched the film while a bunch of teenagers kicked the back of our chairs! We are officially ready to discuss the official beginning of the DCCU!

We open this week's discussion with a brief (20ish minute) spoiler-free discussion of our thoughts on the film so if you haven't seen it yet and are simply looking to find out if it's "for you" then feel free to pop in and see what we thought. After that 20 minute mark, though, it's a no-holds-barred (and immediately spoils the only actual "revelation" in the film.

Come join us while we discuss everything from whether we thing Lex Luthor ever steps off a green-screen, if the film avoids the fate of The Mummy (2017), and whether Rachel Brosnahan is most or least attractive member of this pretty people only film (I'm not proud of this part of the conversation...but it did happen).

  • Episode 4: All-Star Superman
    2025/07/02

Hey! It's a bonus episode! Sorta? Okay...it's a bonus regular episode!

So somewhere along the line we realized our schedule meant we needed an extra episode before Superman (2025) comes out. After some discussion (and by that I mean Nick giving us a dissertation on James Gunn's influences for the upcoming film) we decided to watch All-Star Superman, the animated film based on the comic book of the same name. According to Nick, James Gunn has said it's a major inspiration for how he was thinking about crafting a Superman story while he was writing this film. So let's see what that influence actually is! It's a fascinating film! And Joe didn't get to talk about it with us. We'll mention what happened. It's a whole thing. Listen to find out more!

  • Episode 3 - Superman (1978)
    2025/06/18

As we continue to build up to the big release for James Gunn's Superman (2025) in July, we're talking about Superman (1978) in this episode!

It's the gold standard of what a Superman film has been held against for decades. Between Christopher Reeves's iconic performance, John Williams's memorable score, and Margot Kidder's constant screaming this is the film James Gunn is trying to live up to...but how does the (nearly) 50 year old film hold up? The guys take a look at the film and see how they'd like to see James Gunn evolve the form.
